Having added a bookmark to another topic, saw this one. This is my Google review left afterwards!
An update, which I will just report as a list of factual events - you then be the judge:
- Took car in for comment on paintwork issue.
- Dealership took photos and said they'd submit it to Audi UK for approval.
- Said this might take some months, so after five I wrote asking for an update. No reply.
- Wrote again by recorded delivery. No reply.
- Wrote a third time, no reply.
- Wrote to dealership's head office. No reply.
- Wrote to Audi UK, who confirmed that what the dealership said was not true. They had rejected the work, not submitted it for approval and then repeatedly ignored me.
- You just lost two customers.
Haven't used them since. This, on the other hand, is my Google review of my local indy:
The final paragraph will explain why I was keen to leave a five-star Google review, but you be the judge. I have a fairly high-end Audi that I intend to keep forever, and had got rather fed up with Audi's ever-increasing hourly rate (now over to £250, I believe), and extremely poor levels of honesty with customers. I'd used this independent for a few smaller jobs, but decided to kick Audi into touch and use them for everything. I'm very glad that I did.
They've done services and work on my car and my wife's, and we're perfectly happy with everything. To use a cliché, they really do go the extra mile.
But this tale is indicative of why you should too. My car's front brakes and pads needed doing, though unlike Audi they didn't try to get me to have the work done sooner than was needed. They were happy for me to source the brake kit from an OEM supplier myself, and set about the work. Unfortunately, the shims and bolts were seized on the callipers. Audi would just have spent my money and replaced the callipers, but BR worked out a fix that would get it back to good as new and which should prevent the issue from recurring. Brakes cost me £535 elsewhere (Audi charges well over a grand) and BR charged £400 for other parts and labour - including a very reasonable hourly rate for what was a difficult and complex job. To put this in perspective, and assuming Audi wouldn't have charged for more hours (which I suspect they would), having the work done by BR cost me a little over £900 in total. Had Audi done the job, they would have ordered new callipers, charged like a wounded rhino for labour, discs and pads, leaving me with a total bill of around £4,000. Needless to say, I am a happy man.
