Thanks for the heads up on this. I also had a go - plain black, no sanding & 50/50 on the lacquer. Before, During (dye applied) and after (lacquered). I just let it dry naturally leaving about 20 minutes for the dye and plenty of time for the finish. Warm eve and car closed made it dry nice and quick but evenly.
