Help!
I have been reading through the problems with the clutch pedal sticking down, but I have a different problem the clutch is biting right on the floor and it is really difficult to get in to gear I have tried bleeding it but it is still the same, the pedal feels really soft ,any ideas ?

New clutch. That's how mine was at the end, including feeling a little gritty when engaging.
Pedal sticking down after hard use but being otherwise sound means it needs replacement fluid with a higher boiling point. Cheap and simple.

Hi John,
Your clutch is not 'clearing' fully which could be a hydraulic issue (not providing enough throw to the clutch) but as you have bled it that has most likely ruled that out, so unfortunately you are looking at a clutch problem. There are other parts to replace inside the bellhousing when doing the clutch like the release bearing arm they are documented elsewhere on here.

Ive not long had my B7 RS4 Avant and on a recent spirited outing the clutch pedal stuck down. Ive done some research and there seems to be no definitive answer/cure to the problem, however im willing to try some of the relatively simple things 1st such as changing and bleeding the fluid and probably the clutch return pipe.
Before I change the pipe how can I visually check the pipe in question hasn't already been done by a previous owner? ie where do I look and what to look for.

The fluid used in mine was dot 5.1, job done by Graham Goode. The problem hasn't returned once in the years since that was done. Fluid is pennies, but they had to remove part of the exhaust to do the job so it cost just over £100 iirc. Bargain, and presumably much cheaper if you are competent enough to do it yourself - which I am not!
