Fraser... Im going to go a little against the grain here and say that 25k for that car, with that spec, from a dealer is actually a decent deal. I sold my rs4 recently privately for more than that, granted with less miles, but spec, colour etc is the same.

There is a premium you pay for buying from a dealer and this is about right.

Do this though, go back and tell him you'll take it for 25k on the basis he offers a no quibble, comprehensive warranty with it for 3 months (or more) to ensure no gremlins exist

Sure you could pay less privately but i sense money is not your primary driver, you want a well sorted car in that spec and it looks like you've found it.

I have to say, I received a no quibble warranty on mine from an independent. Transpired the DRC was weeping up front. I received Audi goodwill, but the indie picked up the bill for the balance... it does swing in round a bouts and one has to figure that in...
