I am SO with you there fella - every few months I look around and think Hmmm - I'd like a 997 turbo or I'd like a GTR ETC ETC - I would have thought that every petrol head does that!
But, the RS4 to me is everything I want out of a car - I can take it down the dump with a load of rubbish from the garden or take the kids / wife to the alps skiing and fully loaded up with gear as well as a few track days and a VMAX event thrown in. Not many cars out there that can do that.

Mine to is looked after properly, detailed every year and I am working through preventative maintenance that I know will need doing [full clutch/flywheel and oil cooler this summer] and I have already done discs/pads all round and have KWv3's fitted as well as the usual carbon clean/exhaust and MRC tune. As well as the detailing I am always looking at subtle things to keep the car fresh and in tip top condition and currently the car is away for other work at the moment to keep it as fresh as possible.

The *only* thing that is in the back of my mind is the timing chain replacement which I expect will need doing around 120K Miles but I've no idea on the official Audi view on this or any other major work recommended. Also worth bearing in mind is that not a lot of B7 RS4's have excessive mileage so it's kinda a grey area.

As someone else has said, it's most definitely likely that ancillary parts will let you down rather then the engine itself. That's why for me, a good preventative and maintenance schedule including more aggressive oil changes than those documented is worth it's weight in gold.

Anyone else got comments on things to consider when the mileage creeps over the 100K mark?

Timing chain and tensioners at 155,000.

Will probably do the water pump, oil pump and belts at the same time.

Everything else is just 'normal' RS4 upkeep:

Oil cooler, KW3's, ARB's, front discs and pads, clutch/flywheel/master/slave, aux radiators, upper and lower front suspention arms, rear wiper motor, TPMS controller (still not fixed), PCV valve, both active engine mounts and new bolts for the steering arms all changed in the last 30,000 miles/3 years since I got the car.

Currently 122,000 and climbing but there is no point putting it in a garage half the year as I would miss it.

Don't really fancy a forced induction car with a non-manual gearbox so for me, the RS4 is a keeper.

Not that I hate GTR's, the new 991 GT3 etc, they are great cars, just not what I want to drive around in.

And how cool will the old V8 sound in five years when everyone else is driving 1.0 turbos/hybrids?
