Sticky Clutch Pedal
Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Hose doesn't work either unfortunately.
Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
So is the car still drivable when this happens or would you have to pull over? Just wondering if the clutch can be pulled back up with your foot or if you have to wait a while. I guess if there were any safety concerns while driving / overtaking something, Audi would have to sort it out with a recall.

I have my RS4 just over a month now, loving it so far, but I think I have the Sticky Clutch issue.
It's stuck halfway down on me 4 times now, twice after "Spirited" driving, twice shortly after starting off.
From reading posts here it seems like there is a bit of uncertainty about it, but it points to a new clutch,
I;m just trying to figure out if this issue causes any damage and if so how I'm going to convince the dealer to replace it!
Any advice?
Cheers

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Just an update on this.
Car was in the Garage, they did a pressure bleed of the system. I thought it was sorted as the usual high revving trick didn't work.
However this weekend it stuck again.
New clutch time I think!

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Car still drives ok.
You just need to put your toe under the pedal and pull it back up

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
I have this problem too, sprinted acceleration going from 1st to 2nd.
1. Normal commuting: no issues with clutch
2. Spirited drive (under 7K rpm): gears change fine, no issues
3. Hard driving (change at redline, 1-2,): clutch suddenly becomes heavy, engages immediately off the floor, I get lunged forward and develops 4 inches of free play in travel where nothing happens. Resolves completely in next few changes and seems back to normal. No clutch slipping, no burning smells. Only happens 1-2.
Seems to be quite common from what I'm hearing. I also have 3 months warranty from the garage I bought it from I'm thinking of giving them a call tomorrow.
What has been a perfect fix? Clutch? Or are some getting away with just the odd cylinder and pipes?
Thanks

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
That's pretty much my story right there apart from a few weeks back the clutch went completely and would not engage any gears!!! I considered trying the return pipe, master/slave cylinders first (as it's cheaper) but most people who tried this route ended up having to replacing the entire clutch!KGRS4 wrote:I have this problem too, sprinted acceleration going from 1st to 2nd.

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
I have a standard motor but if this seems to be a common problem with an OEM clutch I'd rather put a different one in if this is likely to happen again? Or at least a stronger kind etc.
Ill have to phone the garage I bought it from as I've still got warranty with it see what they say

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Just got the hydraulics replaced on mine this weekend under warranty.
Going good so far
Fingers crossed

My thoughts were similar hence why I upgraded. Worth exploring the warranty though - fingers crossedKGRS4 wrote:I have a standard motor but if this seems to be a common problem with an OEM clutch I'd rather put a different one in if this is likely to happen again? Or at least a stronger kind etc.

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Mine has done it for 4 years and 40k miles so far !!
I discussed it with Doug the other day at MRC when they did the decoke and he said that it is definitely the pressure plate and only a replacement clutch/flywheel will fix it 100%
Mine is no worse despite the extra power from the recent work. Its easy to drive round and once it starts doing it you can still change gears okay - I havent tried pushing it too much on track but will update this and the other thread Im on when I do.

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Does it happen often?
Do you get the burning smell?
Just wondering if it comes back if it's something I can live with...

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Everytime I cane it.
And no, it doesnt make a burning smell, but then I have usually let the car chill and cool a bit before I know I will be stopping so perhaps have never had the aroma !!
In fact I keep having a bit of head confliction as Doug at MRC told me I now have to give the car a good thrapping to 8500rpm pretty much every time I use it, preferrably close to end of journey to try to limit coking up again. After decades of turbo cars its doing my head in !! as all i want to do for the last 5 minutes of a journey is drive off boost and let the car cool right down as never particularly liked my turbo timers.
Too much info lol
Yes, you can live with it easy if you are even slightly adept at driving.

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Not too much info at all. Great to hear it tbh.
I'll print it out and show the gf to explain my driving style
Used to turbos myself so it will be a change all right.

Re: Sticky Clutch Pedal
Just a quick update.
Been a month now and no more sticky clutch.
Looks like the cylinder replacement did the job.
