Don't give up though, and don't let them get away with it. Tbh even if what they've done is completely within the law, they probably won't know that

Re: Newbie needs disc advice
It's probably a good idea to decide what the outcome you want is before getting into negotiating with dealer. For example, if you're happy to give the car back and start over again that probably means you can really push them little bit harder and threaten with just returning the car and getting your money back. Sort of depends what kind of price you got for it too really. If you got a really good price, and so want to keep the car - then you'd prob want to negotiate to just get some work done and find a level that you and the dealer are comfortable with - and just accept that you got a good price because it needs some work.
Don't give up though, and don't let them get away with it. Tbh even if what they've done is completely within the law, they probably won't know that

Re: Newbie needs disc advice
The car was bought from a dealer down south a month ago, not the easiest to nip back and have discussions with. I have contacted him in writing. I have the health report paper work that states all the measurements so I have sent him a copy of that with wee letter. I sent all that off today, I was advised this was the best way legally to do it all. Knowing me I would start yelling at him down the phone anyway and would get nowhere.
They are indeed hard to resist, I've always wanted a V8 and I'm not going to give it up that easily:
- I have given him a compromise re the discs, He buys the discs and I'll fit them. That seams fair? and I quite like getting my hands dirty.
- Shocks are beyond me so he will have to pay for that repair.
- Bulbs, I'll take the hit. Autohause Edinburgh are going to do this for me for a resonable price while it gets a carbon clean.
- Exhaust can stay ceased open lol
Its the discs that pissed me off the most, being the most expensive and the most knackered on the car not to mention the safety aspect.
The other thing that came up on the health check is.....the wiper blades. I laughed, oh Audi you are jokers some times. I think I would see(or not) if the wipers were goosed.
Other than these things, the car is spotless and runs like a dream! I just want to get all this sorted and get a GruppeM intake on the fecker then some more mods.
Thank you all for your help and advice

Thanks mate, are you near Ocean T by any chance? Have seen Daytona saloon that way?surfpunkian wrote:Feel your pain, just looking at some expensive repairs myself after just getting the car a few weeks ago!
Also recognise the location in the picture as I live very close to there in Edinburgh. If you see a Daytona saloon around that area it's most likely me, give me a shout if you ever want to meet up to exchange moans!
Nice looking car btw, hope the enjoyment of driving it makes up for the pain of getting it fixed by the dealer.

Re: Newbie needs disc advice
Excellent! Glad he's doing the decent thing.
My Daytona saloon is in at Autohaus for carbon clean in a week or so, Davie there is a decent guy who has already given me some really sound advice and peace of mind with some error codes.
I am just on Granton/trinity border so may well have been me around oceanT. Never really seen another rs4 up close, so hope to see you around the area!
Looking forward to seeing the results of the carbon clean

Re: Newbie needs disc advice
Glad to see it looks like the dealer is responding and agreeing to pay.
Just one thing - if your putting new discs on then the general consensus is that you should also put new pads on, as the old pads wwould have been worn to fit the slight grooves in the old disc.

Thanks for the heads up I did consider it but with the old pads have 60% left on them I thought I would leave it. Now you say that it makes sense especially when these discs are so f**ked . Any recommendations? I know there are a lot of different pads to chose from. Do I also have to take some brake fluid out to compensate for new pads and discs?

A mini meet would be great, saw 2 new RS4 saloons in Edinburgh today, one black one and one Milano that might have been Yanos? If so your car looks badass! Stance looks beefier for some reason, must be the darker rims against the red.

Various options fo pads.
Pagid are the OEM ones, but you can get them cheaper if you buy non Audi branded.
I have EBC yellow stuff - price was around £180
If you do a quick search on here you will find various threads on the pads.
