Had my test drive on Friday - and loved it

It really is a nice solid car, and the kick over 4500 rpm is great! I feel as though it would have to be worked to exploit the full potential in the upper rev ranges, but still has 'ample' performance even if you don't. Would you lot agree? However, the finance figures for the £27k car didn't add up for me, but a sub £20k would definitely be worth the premium over a £12k Impreza. The Impreza would be fun, but the RS is a much nicer place to be. My Saturday was spent picking up a new cylinder head for my son's classic mini, then visiting Ikea. I really think I need to stick to the avant (unless the rear seats fold down in the saloon? I believe it is an option on E46 BMW coupes (can I use the B word here?)). I also love the buckets, and the flat bottomed steering wheel, so they are also on the want spec

Need to free up some cash by selling the Mrs old car and my formula ford, but I am encouraged by the number of avants now on autotrader (but will be looking primarily here). And having read the 3-8k thread, I also have a way of testing the hp of a prospective purchase. Would anyone care to comment on how the S4 compares to drive? Or the B5? I guess that will have more torque, but don't think the handling is a good? But that is internet knowledge, rather than firsthand. Don't think I want to go that way, so please supply me with evidence that the RS4 B7 is the way go
