For some reason AMD always show bigger gains on a carbon clean?

Agreed. but... a large proportion of those 74 are mhp (mental horsepower) - my understanding is that the more you pay, the greater the quantity of mhp will be received. Difficult to track on the dyno though :?

The thing is after I posted I looked at wattsy s previous posts and he did not only have a de- coke done at amd he had his pre cats gutted and a re map all at the same time..so why he posted what he did above is very misleading..imo

As per an earlier post, I took my standard B7 RS4 with 43000 miles into MRC for a healthcheck.

standard exhaust, standard map, standard filters / intake etc

it was first thing in the morning. it ran 370bhp but no vacuum issues were identified and no other issues that could affect power output were picked up.

Its been run on v-power since december 2012 (when I bought it)

took it back a month later and (amongst other non engine related things) had the full carbon clean done.

new power output - 400bhp

other than new manifold gasket nothing else was changed on the car. it should / would have been making closer to 414bhp but for unknown reasons it was retarding the timing. I've been running it on Momentum 99 ever since (to rule out any fuel issues) and will take it back up one morning in next month or so for another dyno run.

many thanks for the write up on this - I am also thinking of possibly getting mine looked at so this is very useful, I'm hesitant because mine seems to still perfrom well on the 'arthur test' - would be keen to get it on the dyno though to see what it is pushing out. mine is standard too currently.

That is a more realistic figure IMO...when amd did mine I got 20/25 hp

I got almost the same gain at MRC (377 with Milltek cat back but standard tune, 397 with an MRC stage 2 tune - no carbon clean).
