The guys at the lower end of the spectrum will all be out measuring their tyre pressures tomorrow!

But if nominal losses are ~20%, if the above statement is true, you could find the figures varying ~40hp purely on account of your tyre pressures!

Morale of the story: 50psi for the dyno!
Nobody told me, the tyre pressures should be 50psi???
Mine was running f41 r38 on brand new vredstein sessanta's, these are very soft tyres !
Maybe this accounts for 343hp instead of 360-370 ?

OOP'S,
dont worry didn't make any difference !
Your graph is the answer, definate loss of power, no i mean no MORE power.
Incidently, what was the rpm at that point ?

I think J was joking about 50 psi although this would have boosted numbers.

We were checking tyre pressures for the first 6 cars and they were very consistant with what they should be. So because of time stopped checking as most seem to check them as you should on a regular basis.

Who is based near me in berkshire? We could go out and do some runs to see how big a difference there is?

Andyuk911 drove my car at the end of the day as we were last to leave and can vouch that there is a noticable difference in the bum dyno!! Car pick up so quickly compared to stock. I believe this to be down to the de-cat letting the egine breath lower down in the range.

Oh well as J said all fun and games.

Also just to say the printer broke on the day so no plots were printed yet. They are waiting for a new one and will then scan them all and send to me and I will email them to the individuals as promised. Sorry for the delay but bear with me.

Spoke with Audi this morning, they are not interested in Dyno plots, and Audi HQ would not do any work based on them. I have chosen a different angle.

Spoke with Audi York this morning. Car is booked in for a full service as a starter. Spoke directly with a Master Tech. I have gone down the angle of the fact I went out in 3 other cars, similar mileage, similar age etc.. and they all pulled a lot better than mine in the higher rev range. I also mentioned the power curve on my dyno results looked like there was a fault, and a another car with a similar power curve had a MAF fault.

After the full £500+ service Audi have agreed to run rolling diagnostics on the car, and check all my figures vs what they should it be reading (Audi's techincal figures for the car)

I suppose I'm meeting them half way, the service will eliminate anything simple. They are prepared to show me the Audi figures and the figures my car is producing under road testing.

They will then look at replacing parts based on those results.

I think its a start, what do you guys think?

Nick

Hey that's funny, my... (I'm thinking of another name for them) 'dealer stealer' said he wanted my Dyno figs before he booked me in...?

By the way, he said if he could get me 360/370 bhp, would that be okay with me...!

So, what's your angle Nick??

If you check some of the Ozzie forums, they give the impression that when using a Dyno Dynanics RR, the tyre pressures should indeed be 50psi.

Its daft operators don't tell you that.

klauster,

Perhaps its worth reminding Audi that they have, on the basis of lacklustre dyno figures, taken an RS4 back.

Maybe get on to the barrister that VARSITY used to effect this process?

When you drop the car off, include a written statement of your objections/concerns with the cars performance and cc it to both your lawyer and Audi HQ.

Whilst you're at it, I'd include some photgraphic evidence from this board of the potential deposition in the inlet - we know this affects power so it could be part of your argument. If you can get that cleaned at Audi's expense that'd be a great result....for all of us!

;-)

Of course Mac's experience of his local dealer wanting plots just goes to show that the dealers make it up as they go along...

Curiously, if Mac's dealer is asking whether 360-370hp is acceptable, what is the implicit suggestion????!!!!

You know what - I bet when Audi originally dynoed this 4.2 on the engine dyno, they forgot to hook the bugger up to the exhaust. That'd explain everything....

Mines going in to Audi on wednesday, but obviously the fault has a code, so should be a relatively easy fix. Having its main service at the same time, and I'm also putting in new plugs. Once it is running correctly and I am happy with it, bring on more power - see below.

I have ordered a BMC filter for it, and am just awaiting Charlie from Milltek Sport to phone me back ref my new exhaust, and am awaiting a call back from Oettinger ref a re-map - So in a month or so's time, hopefully, I should be right up there with the best of them.........ha ha we'll see! I won't be going de-cat or sports cat route, but will be getting the best out of the car I can, without this.

Hope you other guys sort your cars out ok
