Servicing Audi or time to go independent
Re: Servicing Audi or time to go independent
Righto mate. I've got 3 bottles of RBF600 sitting in my garage doing nothing.
Audi replaced with the OEM stuff a couple of weeks ago (for free, mind).

Ok, well if you want to come over we can swap it over sometime (ideally before Spa).
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Sounds good. I'm off to Guernsey tomorrow for a few days break.sonny wrote:Timster wrote:Righto mate. I've got 3 bottles of RBF600 sitting in my garage doing nothing.

Will arrange something after that, bud.
(could you check with your Audi mate whether it's ok to change "without" using the Audi pressurised canister system?)
cheers

Re: Servicing Audi or time to go independent
I recently had 40k serviced at Audi.
I beat them down on price and eventually agreed a full service (FS Oil, Oil filter, Pollen filter, Air filter, Spark Plugs, Brake Fluid etc) for £525 (basically £465 + £60 for brake fluid). This was from an initial quote of £950.
They phoned me to say it was ready with three advisories
- Tyre Monitor System out of date (I had replaced two weeks ago with a new one which expires in 2015!)
- Air filter needs replacing (of course it does, and that's why I asked for a full service)
- Cambelt due (oh dear)
Anyway, was happy with the end result and price but it was a painful process to go through.
The also filled it with Shell Helix Utlra 5W-30 (their new standard oil) which meets the spec but a bit annoying as I have four litres of Castrol Edge at home and would not want to mix when topping up.

The lack of product knowledge of some Audi dealers is beyond beliefwms wrote:- Cambelt due (oh dear)
So far we've had letters from the local dealers for ALL of our cars telling us the cam belts need replacing - but NONE of them has a cambelt (RS4, Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP 12v, Citroen C1). Is it any surprisae that NONE of our cars gets serviced at a dealer any more? We've found good local indies, all run by enthusiasts, and that's where our cars go now.

Not really, the "city bugs" (C1, 107, Aygo) have developed quite a following.Amar wrote:Was it hard finding the Citroen C1 enthusiast?

Re: Servicing Audi or time to go independent
Yes. Because my nearest dealer picked up my car, MOTd it and then delivered it back to me. It did cost me £50 for all of that though but I got an MOT warranty out of it (a few hundred quid of MOT repairs the next time if required for free).The_Coat wrote:A little off topic but do you guys also get your MOT done at the dealers?
I’m only asking as so far mine has always been done with Audi but I have a very good family friend who is a mechanic and can do the MOT if needed.
Cheers
