Sorry Ads, but the OCD side of me would lead me to believe that if Audi didn't consider Phaeton discs to be good enough for the RS4 then they aren't good enough for me.

What are we talking about here?
c£250 saving per axle.

How much do we pay to buy/run these cars?
- a darn sight more than that.

RS4 B7 Brake Discs / pads

W12 phaeton = 444BHP and weighs 2440KG vs Rs4 @ 420BHP and 1780KG, I'm pretty sure the brakes that are designed to stop the W12 tank will be more than sufficient for the RS in everyday driving applications, with spirited driving you may well see a reduction in breaking performance of the W12 discs but then they weren't designed for that type of application I suppose. My 2p's worth.

Interesting how you weight your case in favour of the W12 Phaeton & not the V6 3.0Tdi with 236bhp?

Hey if you guys are happy to fit non-standard parts on your car then feel free to do it.

My point is that if Audi deemed Phaeton discs to be good enough then why didn't they fit them in the first instance?

What would be the implications for your insurance claim in the unfortunate event of an accident?

Only a thought.

If I were a prospective buyer, I'd be wondering what else you had economised on.

Plus they aren't drilled - it's all in the detail?

As owners, we can debate the RS4 brakes from our personal experiences & from that perspective whilst adequate for general day2day usage, they are also flawed. If you read through former posts you'll find plenty of info about clogged discs, micro cracking and warping.

Phaeton discs at least address two of those problems.
Gone: Audi RS4 Avant, Alpina XD3, Smart Brabus, McLaren 12C,
