is there a guide for removing the aluminium trim
Re: is there a guide for removing the aluminium trim
i know danny said he would post it but heres the part numbers and prices for black optic trim.
on the image from elsawin that adds posted it says you dont need to remove rear quarter glass,on the last ones i did i removed them but that was a on a b6.
maybe for the b7 rs4 they are insert's?.
as i can remember for the door tops trim you had to remove all the door pads and they are held on with a couple of small torx screws from the inside.
as for the roof trim pretty straight forward remove the cover and drill out the rivets ,remove trim, pop new one on and re-rivet clip cover back in.
im about to do mine as i wrapped mine about 18 month ago and its starting to look a bit tatty,a couple of edges on the door trims are starting to lift and where the rubber round the top of the door window touches the roof trim its rubbed some wrinkles in it.
if you haggle you should get the vat back.on the image from elsawin that adds posted it says you dont need to remove rear quarter glass,on the last ones i did i removed them but that was a on a b6.

Prices seem reasonable, how much would Audi charge to fit though...............

Re: is there a guide for removing the aluminium trim
Thanks for all the help and heads up.
So far the parts off the car are
boot plyinth
wing mirrors
Top trim above doors (you dont need to remove rear quarter glass for this)
The front bumper grill trim you have to take the bumoper off but we have done this before so no biggy
BUT THE STRIPS THAT RUN ACROSS THE DOORS!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL ANYONE GOT A GUIDE OR DIAGRAM FOR THIS!!! I've done a bit of research and it seems like these are also riveted on or something.
Can anyone shed some light on this at all it'll seem a shame polishing them back up while on the car when everything else is off the car already.
Cheers
Luke

Re: is there a guide for removing the aluminium trim
Mines were a bit tarnished when i got the car however i went down the vinyl wrap route. Think it was about £100 to do its still looking good a year and a bit on. I just got them wrapped in a silver that matched the mirrors. Done by Totally-Dynamic in Glasgow, only took them half a day.
Re: is there a guide for removing the aluminium trim
the vinyl wrapping route is only a temporary thing, deffo not a route i would go again

Reading elsawin it says
Mask area beneath slot trim strip with adhesive tape.
[Open door and] Carefully bend up slot trim strip at rear slightly.
Use plastic wedge to prise slot trim strip sideways off mount.
To refit:
Use plastic wedge to carefully widen lower edge slightly on inside of new slot trim strip.
To facilitate assembly, coat this edge and mount with soap solution, for example.
Insert slot trim strip from above and push it carefully by hand completely onto mount.
Looks like they are supposed to be disposable...

Re: is there a guide for removing the aluminium trim
And i can confirm that is correct ha ha i followed the elsa guide today and nakered one so a new one is on its way (well a new set) from TPS for tomoz. The only thing they dont list them on there own so now its a complete strip down for me with the rain seal as well rather than just pressing on the new ones when they arrive. Why did i start this job ha ha !!!adsgreen wrote:Luke@plush wrote:Thanks for all the help and heads up.

Real shame Luke, but sure it will be worth it

Drive low,park lower
Re: is there a guide for removing the aluminium trim
I've booked mine in with Audi to get the drivers door trim replaced. An eye watering £165 with the VAT but the car is mint bar this one bit so worth it in the end
