That's the wimp model.
Perhaps - but i've got half a chance to fit my sprog in the front seat of the non clubsport model. This being the case that would make the clubsport more suitable for the more effeminate of owners! ;-)

LOL...Not a bad idea....

On the porker front...Sorry guys forgot to say i need something with room for the family!!! Although i aint sure how a RS5 would fit that bill???

Ive also thought about a C63 but i dont know what it is but i dont think i could live with it day to day..its nice but IMO doesnt look special enough....plus with my hamfisted driving skill and RWD its a recipe for disater!!!!

Not bothered about track times...just something that does warp speed..hence im thinking C6 RS6???....the saloon even more so.

I never thought id keep the RS4 this long..will be four years by the time im thinking of changing...my previous cars generally lasted 9 months max before i got bored.

I only rule i always had was my next car would always have more BHP than the previous...so far so good on that front with 10 previous cars...

So something to beat 414bhp :bigblink: ...sorry i mean 350 to 380 ish depending on carbon... :assflash:

RS3 is toooo small for me..and i cant see them sheding money like the big V8S AND V10S anytime soon....

Whats a man to do???? :kissmyrings:

Wait for until next year like AKA DK, C6 prices are only going one way, I wouldn't be happy losing 5k in five months.

As per Oak's comment, you might want to step outside the "Audi bubble" and look at what else is out there. I don't think there's anything in the current, or recent, Audi ranges that could match an RS4's handling (apart from the R8), hence the consideration of other marques.

If your budget's £40k, you're looking for a no (or very little) compromise family car with similar performance to the RS4, and are considering used vehicles (so putting aside any thoughts of an Evo X, for example) then you should really be looking at used XFRs, C63s, IS-Fs and M3s.

The disadvantage with the IS-F is that the rear seats don't fold down and (I might be very wrong on this) it might, from memory, be a strict four seater - I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. The M3 is the only one of the lot of them available as a manual, but the boot might not be big enough for your family needs.

I'm in the same situation as you - thinking of changing my Avant some time late next year for something else (funds permitting) and the two cars that will be very high on my shortlist will be the Jaguar and the Merc. The Jag is meant to be an awesome car to drive but residuals won't be good and I'd have to think long and hard about reliability (some real electrical issues with the early cars, and having to rely on a touchscreen as the major user interface worries me, but the dealership network is meant to be fantastic). The Merc, from the research I've done, seems to be extremely reliable (worn seat bolsters appear to be the only common issue that I can find), is available as an estate and has a soundtrack that makes Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" sound like the theme from Terry & June.

I do like the C63 estate putting that power down is a major problem though, one of the best features of the RS4 is the go anywhere traction.

It's not in the near future but I think the latest S8 4.0T will be the one, finally a tune-able S8! De-CAT milltek and a map it'll be silly quick, look smart, V8 sound and a million hi-luxe toys inside... job done.
Probably an M6 V10 as a stopgap.

It's suspension setup has come in for a lot of criticism so it muight be faster in a straight line, but where it matters round the twisty bits the SR4 will be faster.

All heavy man and apart from the M3...stinkin auto. M3 not too much longer of this world so values will drop... None four wheel drive (apart from RS5 that funny no one really wants).
I've come to the conclusion that unless Audi bring out a new lighter manual RS4 that looks great (base A4 looks boring IMO) then only two cars can replace the one; R8 or (i know, i know, its not 'great') the AM vantage and a cheap who gives a monkeys sensible 4 wheel drive boring.
Looks like just like the original UR Quattro we may have to wait around for a good bit before the good mix comes again :-(

Dave, with your job and also having had them on your RS4 Cab, how are the ceramics holding up long term? No issues like Porsche suffered? The discs are meant to be 'lifetime' aren't they? I mean can you imagine buying a C6 RS6 used with 420mm (and 356 rears) ceramics to be told the discs are cracked and need replacing?! You'd want to kill yourself!

...Or you'd want to kill Audi. I'm pretty sure DK sold those ceramics soon after purchase, smart move, release cash from the car.

Im warming to the GTR also,i like whats possible relatively cheaply tuning wise also,my children are small so it would still work ok when i have them on weekends, heard there terrible on fuel and running costs though, any sort of BMW now leading into winter would be a stupid move i would end up taking my owld nail of a tdi quattro instead in poor conditions,i would want a car thats there and useable when I want to use it,and have acsess to the high performance that ive paid for all year round
