Road rage!

Yeah I remember that, hard to think it was 11 years ago though.

Re: Road rage!
Funnily enough - that Noye incident flashed into my mind at the time - one of the reasons I did walk away.aka_dk wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/date ... 478253.stm
not worth it, keep your door shut and move on (with a blast of V8)

I would've blasted the V8 normally but a tractor was blocking the road ahead!

i dont get the dressed like plumbers or electrician bit ....is it cause you think pikeys only wear white vestsSteve_C wrote:Thanks for the comments guys - think I just needed to get it off my chest.
The way they behaved indicated pikeys but the way they were dressed indicated an electrician or plumber. Shame there was no signwriting on the van to identify them by.
Yes, in hindsight I should've kept the door locked shut.

They were wearing matching work trousers, tool belt and polo shirts. The van had some cabling/pipes on its roof.scaghead wrote:i dont get the dressed like plumbers or electrician bit ....is it cause you think pikeys only wear white vestsSteve_C wrote:Thanks for the comments guys - think I just needed to get it off my chest.

Re: Road rage!
Couple things -
1) Do NOT et of the car. The obvious reason is that you've no idea what they are carrying or capable of. You are far safer in the car. The second reason is that if a fight does break out you'll get no sympathy from the law. There have been several case tried (so I guess now can be taken as law) where road rage has caused both parties to exit their cars and result in a fatal injury to somebody. Doesn't matter if it was your knife or not - as soon as you get out of the car it's seen that you are rising to the challenger as it were and will be held responsible for the outcome.
2) Always in these situation leave a space infront of your car. It's really reall hard to approach a moving car (even if only a couple mph)
3) road hawk cameras are great. failing that, just grab your phone and act as if you are videoing everything (even if you're not). people do act differently if they fee they can be identified.
Finally, I do think it's always worth reporting to the police even just to get it recorded.

Re: Road rage!
It would take only a second to overtake a slow moving van in an RS4. Is that enough time to use the horn? really?Steve_C wrote:So we came to a stright bit of road and I pulled out to overtake. It is a narrow road but plenty of room for both of us side by side. As I got along side the van it gently swerved to the right and squeezed me until my driver side wheels were on the grass verge. At this point I sounded my horn in case he hadn't seen me.
Don't use your horn as a rebuke, and don't get out of your car to 'rise to the challenge'. Just rise above it.
Don't let the OP give you nightmares. I don't like hearing these stories, they make you feel scared to drive the RS4 anywhere.
I believe these incidents are avoidable, it always takes 2.

Re: Road rage!
I'm not trying to give anyone on here nightmares, just recounting an actual incident. If you don't like hearing such stories, don't read threads entitled Road Rage! FWIW, I don't think the type of car I was driving had any bearing on how the incident unfolded.RS4Owner wrote:It would take only a second to overtake a slow moving van in an RS4. Yes, I could've maybe overtaken in a second if I had floored it with high revs but as it was a clear straight road I judged it to be safer to ovetake in a more controlled manner.

The horn was not a rebuke - I was using it to ensure the driver was aware that I was along side him and that if he continued driving as he was an accident may very well occur.
Thanks for your comments but you're off the mark.

Sorry to hear this & you defo did the right thing.
Your kid/s would be alot worse off with a dead hero for a father. Boils my pi$$ that idiots like this even exist, however to make matters worse they're almost a law unto themselves as often they never get punished.
Had my 1st TT stolen via a break in whilst me & my 2 kids were asleep & they were armed with bricks up to the point they drove off in my car. Also had an attempted car-jack on the M1 in my RS6 but the traffic was light & a Nissan Primera is no match for a modified RS6.

Re: Road rage!
The Primera was 4 up (handy looking blokes & likely tooled) & had been driving aggresively behind & in-front of me for about 5 miles (not far from the M25 interchange). At first they were signalling for me to pull over, making out their was a problem at the rear of my car. As that failed they twice tried to hit the back of my car but both times i avoided contact & after the 2nd attempt i called the police & floored it. Whilst on the phone to the police they indicated they were aware of this Primera as a similar attempt had failed further North.aka_dk wrote:on the motorway ?W8PMC wrote: Also had an attempted car-jack on the M1 in my RS6 but the traffic was light & a Nissan Primera is no match for a modified RS6.

During my continued dialogue with the rozzers they informed me the Primera had exited the M1 & was pulled over nearby but i've no idea what happened as a result. Was more angry than scared at the time but common sense took over & i knew this was a bad situation. What tickled me is during my conversation with the BOB i had informed them of my rapid departure from the scenario & i was about to go Supersonic at which point the copper had a good giggle.
