I've not been asked to leave more than £500.00 as a deposit thus far?

I'd burn the place down if I were you.

Dealing with Audi Approved over the time looking I left refundable 500 and 1000 pound deposits (two different cars, two different times) - so they do ask for different amounts.

I also would not over react and walk from a car over 6 months tax disc - it goes both ways - you pay or the dealer does - no biggie and they arent ripping you off imo

they are ripping u off

The car already has road tax. End of. They CANNOT get any money back for the tax, they used to be able to, hence every used car would have no tax and the customer would have to pay.

But it has tax on, so noone needs to pay.

Its bollux they bought it off The previous owner? Why?

If u want to play them at their own game, arrange to pay for 6 months tax yourself direct with dvla, then theyr left with a tax disc they can do Bugger all with.

The car is taxed, the previous owner has paid for and foolishly didn't take it off The car before p/x'ing

Its got nothin to do with the dealer.

I think we have to look at this in context.
You are giving them £30k ish for a car
They don't have a bill for £230 worth of tax as they haven't bought it themselves, even on the off chance that the seller said I want £x for my car and I'll leave the tax on, as we know Audi don't offer loads for the car in px anyway and they still probably made big on the car that the RS4 came in against, especially if it was an RS5.
Hence quibbling over this is petty at best and insulting at worst, sometimes they should step back and look at the bigger picture.
The car also came with wheels and some seats, do you have to pay extra for that?

Out of principle I personally wouldn't continue the deal if a deposit wasn't at stake.

One can only guess what the aftersales support will be like once they have had your money!

And make sure you don't leave any tax on your px!

^ LOL - the tax disc on my p/x will be removed as I drive into the Audi dealership. They are not having it.

I think they are unlikely to budge. Thus I recommend u do Wat aka_dk suggests ie get ur own tax VIA dvla! That would be a nice little slap on their face. It's not costing u any extra and they won't benefit and possibly feel stupid and petty afterwards.

You will be able to get your deposit back. They will moan and groan and say no but you will get it, people change there mind all the time. It's not like it is a new car ordered to spec or transported to this dealer esp. for you so sack em off.
Play them at there own game. Plenty out there.
