That's because of the cooling effect of the water vapour in the air.
Looking forward to my first winter with the RS4 then!

Rob, if you have the time a 'How to' guide would be useful.

I'm game for trying new things like this on cars but don't always have the technical know how to buy and try stuff like this.

P_G - as I switched the system on, I did think that perhaps I should have done that... :bash:

I'll try and write something with a few pictures.

Isn't it more to do with the fact that water vapour expands more than air when superheated in the combustion, so when it's present it provides a bit more volumetric expansion and therefore a bit more power?

The air's cool anyway on a cool day, and therefore more dense, so a greater mass can be drawn into the engine which when heated will expand more and therefore provide a bit more power as well ...

All of those factors combined.

Given that I have an impending 107mph court case coming up I don't want to spend any money having the car tuned just now so no trip to MRC immediately.

What channels can I log on VAG-com to prove/disprove whether WI is doing anything at all? Bear in mind a std MAP.

I did P_G yes - aprt from the waterbox, but that is easily substituted by 10l water containers from Halfords.
