Yep there dummies, did not rate the ISF.TimDogg wrote:I heard that the Lexus IS-F has one exhaust that is for show only, can anyone confirm - that would really annoy me and stop me buying it. I'd get the GT-R, I really would.
What if...no RS4?
Ever heard of TRACTION Control??? I had a 335i E92 with 415lbs/ft of torque...more torque than an RS4 will ever see! Traction control kept me strait all the time! Couldnt get the ass end out unless it was in 'sport' mode or OFF....dry, wet, or snow.Jazza1984 wrote:I probably would give the new M3 some consideration...if we had more than one month of sunshine a year!
Going in circles can be fun,but not towards trees at 70 cos your rwd ass decided to kick out cos its raining
Horses for courses, and the right tyres. 99.9% of the times any 2wd (FWD or RWD) car is more than sufficient & more dynamic.P_G wrote:BMW's aren't all bad however the number of 335D or 335i crawling around in the snow, in fact any RWD car for that matter was staggering. And OK they can handle the wet however they are nowhere near as reassuring as a 4WD car.
4WD on streets is belt and braces, and RWD wins most races.
The RS5 trick diff should be good though.
Sorry sims cant agree, ive run saphire cozzys and m3s and when its wet its not a comfortable place to be when trying to press on,drifting is great in the right environment but on the road with things coming the other way etc,i hated the way the m3 cut its power to nissan micra levels and took ages to return to normal,i had a 2.5tdi quattro at the same time for the wife (then) and it would make safer faster less fustrating progress in anything other than perfect conditions. At the end of the day my RS4 is a road car for all year round that does an awesome job in any conditions thats good enough for me
Audi quattro's trounced all other makes (in hands of professionals) in rallying. So clearly a quattro will be super safe on the gravel free streets.lengster1 wrote:Sorry sims cant agree, ive run saphire cozzys and m3s and when its wet its not a comfortable place to be when trying to press on,drifting is great in the right environment but on the road with things coming the other way etc,i hated the way the m3 cut its power to nissan micra levels and took ages to return to normal,i had a 2.5tdi quattro at the same time for the wife (then) and it would make safer faster less fustrating progress in anything other than perfect conditions. At the end of the day my RS4 is a road car for all year round that does an awesome job in any conditions thats good enough for me
I ran an A6 Allroad (with even "better" tyres than the standard model) for a while - it was so reassuring, but dull.
An RS4 Avant, as I have said before, is a great package. But at the 'Ring, I would much rather have an M3 or 911. And unless it's really, really bad weather, the same cars are also fine everywhere else too. I would not want to drive an M3 CSL with Cups in snow, standing water, cold temperatures etc, but an M3 CS would as quick as an RS4 on nearly 99.999% of journeys IMO.
I was in Canada for the last 10 days - they have lots of snow there and yet majority of the cars are 2WD, and the RWD cars have plenty of torque!!
But they all have the correct winter tyres, as they have in mainland Europe, Scandinavia, Russia etc. It's the tyres....
Sims - I think the likes of Norway have laws that you have to have winter tyres on your car for the winter months. They don't really clear their roads - just flatten the snow.
Stevie - With whom were you speaking, might I ask? I've heard rumours the next RS4 would be on the B9 chassis, with the B8 being solely for the RS5 (all online and from 'credible sources' which means pinch of salt required in my book!)

A friend of mine who works in Milton Keynes... although it is probably like when I asked staff at the Apple shop when the Apple Iphone 4 was coming out and was told 'no plans' and that Apple would have annouced it by now!!! the very next day Orange contacted me to say the iphone would be out 24th June... says it all really!!!! lol
I might think about the RS5 in a year or so - But, only two doors sadly might be an issue..
I also need a fair size boot which rules out 997's etc - I did look at them really hard!
Interestingly re the IS-F Exhaust pipes- I was in Warrington Audi last week and had a look at a TT-RS they had - The pipes aren't connected in that either by the looks of it which I didn't know about.

Yep, TT-RS, R8 V10 and some Lambos are like that, the tail pipes are built unto the rear bumper, the pipes are not connected. the ISF have no pipes going into it, there purely dummies.pauly-b wrote:I might think about the RS5 in a year or so - But, only two doors sadly might be an issue..
