Mine makes a "rubbing / scrubbing" noise when on full lock similar to what is described here. I thought it might just have been the cack continentals protesting a bit as that's what it feels like.

However, My front DRC shocks were just replaced. Only seem to have noticed the noise since then (but I might be wrong). Any ideas if this could be more than a coincidence or is it me just being worried over nothing? It's only when parking at low speed and on full lock. My tyres are a wee bit worn now too.

As my maintenance plan and warranty are about to bite the dust I'm not wanting a big bill for repairs in the new year.

Cheers.

I have the same problem too but only since I had the n/s and o/s front DRC replaced under warranty. Prior to that I only experienced the knocking/scrubbing etc at full lock and as Arthur PE just avoided full lock. Now I seem to be getting this whilst low speed driving at 1/2 to 3/4 lock which gets a lot worse when in the wet/snow/ice. The car is booked back into Aberdeen next Wed for investigation but on chatting with the service guy it would appear that I am not the first and that Audi are aware and are looking at it. Now, this could all be bull but as far as I am concerned the car shouldn't be doing this except when in full lock.

If I get any feedback or cure I'll post however I fully expect a number of return visits before we get this one sorted.

I have had this on every car I have owned with power steering.

Never once give it a second thought.

Spoonz, it's not the same issue.

I too have had this on other cars particularly with wide tyres but this is different. It's a similar noise/condition but at a much reduced steering lock and more to the point was not there before the DRC was replaced. Judging by the number of folks who have experienced the same I would suggest that this is more than just coincidence.

Had phone call today from the dealer saying they want to change the stub axle on the car, had another in with the same problem and that cured it. Keep you posted

Had mine in Audi Aberdeen last week and went for the obligatory Audi Technician test drive. Unfortunately due to the weather (snow & ice) it wasn't really possible to recreate the problem as the tyres were slipping/scrubbing due to the road conditions. I did however mention that this was since the front DRC had been replaced. He mentioned checking the pressures and would give it a good looking over although the ones he had driven lately had all done that. Got the car back later that afternoon with the statement that nothing was found although when driving there is an improvement so can only assume he raised or lowered the pressure in the system. Not really a lot I can do until we hit a spell of dry weather and see if the problem is still there however now the issue is logged in the system.
