I've decided to just take the risk with the extended warranty and not bother.

I'm generally that person that errs on the side of caution and then when something goes wrong, I'm not covered.

I have full AA coverage through work. I have access to other cars/lifts to work if mine is off the road. It's modified so will invalidate it anyway. I have VAGCOM on the laptop (don't know how it works!!!!) and The Phirm are nearby and they know more about VAG cars than any dealer...

Trouble is, if that was all that went wrong in the year then you would still be in pocket by not taking the warranty.

£1.2k+ a big old wedge to cover on a 3-4 year old car before making any 'profit'

Of course, the big things could be covered by another (less comprehensive) warranty?

i am still in two minds on this...

but what price can you put on piece of mind...

you can drive it like you stole it and if something goes bang then its not your wallet that hurts !

its an insurance at the end of the day, depends on your attitude to risk

When my car reached its 3rd Birthday I too extended the warranty with Audi, (even though car was slightly modified), 2 months later I had clutch problems and ended up having the Flywheel, Clutch and servo pipe replaced FOC. the guys picked up on the car being modified, however kept it under the carpet, and had the work carried out (I played ignorance to the mods, it helped). HOWEVER, as for next year, will I extend my warranty, im not too sure. I may even look at warranty direct (I know there not great) but just for piece of mind and if I need to sell.

Sonny i think my clutch may be going the same way, slight judder on take up occasionally and tonight the clutch pedal went hard after a swift takeoff from the lights,im a little shocked @30k my b5 was tuned and was replaced @60k with no real signs of wear (i asked for it to be done as a precaution while it was having turbos)

The tiny pipe, can split and causes the clutch pedal to just travel to the floor and not engage the clutch (even though clutch plate may be fine) this is the Achilles heel of the RS4 imo. The pipe will leak a waxy type fluid that will solidify, try looking on your drive or under the car for this whitish residual, this surely will be the signs that it will need be replaced.

Did you guys get a letter stating when your warranty ran out? I didnt, and consequently, its run out! Fingers crossed they will honour it as it has been a week since it expired...

I am sure you can get it extended after 3 years has run out, it would just need a inspection to make sure car is comparitively(sp) ok.

You can, your right, it does require an inspection (£124.20), but also it costs £2739!! Whereas the continuous one costs £1240!

PS the £1240 offer is going up to about £1500 as of Jan, so all you '07 guys.. watch out!

£1500 thats a rip off, bear in mind the £1240 price included the 17.5% VAT not 15%, I asked Audi about this and they never dropped it to the current 15% VAT! Rip off IMO

The £1240 product is a limited mileage offer.

Is it true that Audi will only extend 'its' warranty on a car that has 60k or less on it ?

Insurance backed warranties
If the warranty or guarantee held by your customer is a contract underwritten by an insurance company then the premium that your customer pays is exempt from VAT. You'll have to disclose to your customer, in writing:
the amount of the premium
any fee you charge for arranging the insurance
If you wanted instead to include the cost of the premium and any arrangement fee in the overall price of the vehicle then you would have to charge the standard rate of VAT on:
your arrangement fee - if you charge one
the part of the premium you keep - your commission
The net premium you pay to the insurance company remains exempt.

Well to round this out, I took the audi warranty for peace of mind and to allow me to extend next year if I decide i might sell. I renewed almost 1 month after the 3rd anniversary of the car registration date with no issues.
I took the limited mileage product as Im averaging approx 8k miles per year.

I'll swap out the DRC if it fails again - its less hassle, provides a better ride and I wont have to worry about it failing anymore.
Everyone is unique, just like you and me.
