thanks for everyone's comments, it definitely felt like he didnt really care, they just wanted to get the cash out of me regardless. the copper took the stand under oath and lied repeatedly, my opinion of cops, the justice system and solicitors is at an all time low, wouldn't piss on any of them if they were on fire right now... ah well, 3 years from now it will be long forgotten hopefully

Jutice? Pah! In my experience a judge's thought process tends to be along the lines of "driving a fast car? They must be at fault regardless of the evidence or circumstances"
yep I agree...when I went to court, they insisted on calling my car an Audi T Sport...

It was only a bloody 163bhp 1.8T

yeah but 9 months when actual crimes that do hurt people, either physically, mentally or possesion'ly (i.e. theft) often get nowhere near 9 months

166 should be custodial, but not if you can mug someone and not go to jail

Horse-s**t IMHO.

If a manufacturer can build a car that will do 200mph, it can presumably do so safely or it wouldn't be built.

To then lock someone up because they've driven well within the capabilities of the car and offended no-one except the rather arbitrary legislature is PC nonsense. I mean, if you really though it was dangerous, you'd oblige the manufacturer to restrict the car's performance wouldn't you?

If you'd been doing the same about 500 miles East of here on an autobahn, it'd all be quite legal...

Obviously the Germans have no idea.

As usual, reduction to the lowest common denominator.

have you driven on an Autobahn?

Its very different over there....the roads are wider and straighter, and the people are MUCH better educated or skilled on driving on motorways, where as in England its full of absolute MUPPETS

Noone will be expecting someone to be doing 166 and so if they pulled out in front of them in a MUPPET kind of way

KAPOW

everyones dead

thats dangerous

<Bit of thread creep>

Autobahn?

I once did 30 miles in 10mins on my 12R...holding onto the bike at that speed gets tiring...

I just disagree that speed is intrinsically dangerous. I'd hazard a guess most owners of 400+hp cars would agree?

Obviously you should pick and choose the times when you want to exercise it...thats the point...

I agree with SR71 he has hit the nail on the head if the road conditions permit whats wrong with speed. AS for autobahns they are as dangerous as most roads very busy at times poor road surfaces on some with crap drivers as well. A lot of them also have speed restriction so keep your eyes peeled because you will be fined. Most of us have driven on them at speed which would see us spending time inside if we were in this country. The courts do not take road conditions into account as has been proven by Klauster

This is the problem; the law has to use the lowest common denominator so they 'protect' everyone. The real problem is ABILITY. Look at the way we train people in this country, how the hell can you give someone a full licence without testing their ability to drive on motorways…and you only have to look at the decline in motorway driving standards these days for evidence of this.

Top Gear did a piece over in Sweden or some other Scandinavian country where kids are taught to drive on loose shale thus improving their car control.

We are constantly bombarded with statistics that show how speed was ‘a contributory factor’ in the collision, what this normally means is the driver was unable to control the vehicle at the speed it was travelling. Not the vehicles fault just the driver’s lack of ability and a way of associating speed with a method of enforcement and thus punishment and fines.

In an ideal world there wouldn’t be speed limits just ability and judgement limits and if you were found driving outside your or your vehicles limits you’d be punished. Problem is it’s far easier to detect a speeding motorist than one driving outside their capability.

When I rule the world this how it will be!

You've got that wrong David... it's just that the so called MUPPETS (the one's that always drive in the right hand lane) they are good drivers, but just been trained to drive in other european countries... :bigblink:

That's my supposition anyway...just why would somebody continually drive in the right hand lane ? (and it's getting worse year by year)...maybe it's because they know we are soon to drive on the right :ban:

PS... MUPPETS - you are being kind, I have another name for them....

PPS... In Scotland the driving is just soo much better... :nogarors4:
