If price wasn't an issue, which tyre would you opt for?

Cheapest I have seen the Michelin PS2's is about £240 but as I said I can get them cheaper. I would like to think that i'll pick 4 up for around £500-600.

PG & PetrolDave - Have you tried the PS2's? How do they comparet to the Goodyears for grip? I do very low miles, so am more interested in performance than the lifespan.

However I am not daft and if there is very little in it I would obviously opt for the Goodyear as they are a fair bit cheaper.

I am very happy with my Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics, previous tyres I had was the P-zero Rossos, I have only ever had those 2 tyre makes on my RS4. the F1s performed great around the ring, so much better than my previous P-zeros. I had mine fitted at around £840 (all in, including 4WLA) you can pick them up slightly cheaper. so I can not comment on any other make, I do fancy the R888 (for dry use only ;) )

When everyone's talking about the goodyear's I think they're talking about 275/30 (not 255/35 OEM)

They are a lot cheaper aren't they?? I have just checked and it looks like they are £100 less per corner.

I'm running 255/35/19 Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics,I personally would not run any other rim size, others will disagree, oh lets not open up this can off worms again lol

Oh you're using 255's ... I thought everyone singing the goodyear's praises were running 275's.
I didn't plan to start a debate,sorry... It's just I didn't think much of the 255 goodyear's...

Good year have only recently started making them in 255. I have not tried the 275s so can not comment on them. I went for the 255 as I was recommended not to go for the 275s (however some guys on here recommend them), did you find them better then the 275, even at high speed?

There are 3 types of PS2's varying in price, does anybody know what the difference is? There is RP, G1 XL & XL

I briefly tried PS2s when I got a set of Sportec Monos for my S4 (came with the rims), then ran Goodyear F1 GSD3s on the same rim when the PS2's expeired.

The grip was as good, GSD3's were always a little spashy when cold but after 5 or so miniutes just as good as the PS2s. The assymetrics don't have the cold running issue the GSD3's have so that's why I say the Goodyears and just as good as the PS2s.

The Goodyears last year I had fitted cost me 700 all in, the cheapest quote I got on PS2s was 1275 fully fitted. Maybe not quite half the price but not far off.

I've never quite got to the bottom of this, as the Assymetrics were supposed to be the replacement for the GSD3's although you can still get them in certain sizes.

I haven't seen GSD3's in 255 or 275 19 size however. I'm going back to Assymetrics after the Vredesteins unless Michelin decide to retail PS2's at a far more reasonable price.

OK I see, I do like the look of the GSD3s, and also the Mich sport cups.

I had PZeros as OE fit - they wore out stupidly quickly (9000 miles) and were OK but not great.

Then I switched to PS2s which were very expensive but lasted much longer (13000 miles) and had slightly better ride and similar grip.

Currently I'm on Goodyear Assymmetrics which have done 11000 miles and still look to have another few thousand in them, they are the quietest of the three (despite being 275 instead of 255s) and for the first few hundred miles felt truly dreadful but after that I reckon they are the best balance between ride and handling of the three makes I've had.

You need the Xl - its the weight they can carry.. Make sure, whatever tire you go for, it is an XL!
