Anyone seen a GT-R or Focus RS on the road yet ?

Saw a black/white/silver camo stcikered up RS on the way down the Le Mans, being driven enthusiatically, along with a VXR 220, an Exige, and a 360...

Well I've seen both and they are both good at what they are designed to be.
Focus RS is a brilliant car for the cash but way to vulgar to look at but then that's the fast ford look and it sells cars.
The Gt-R is an amazing bit of kit and whilst it may well "eat" an RS4, if the owner decides to drive it hard enough to do this he will almost definately void his warranty and destroy his gearbox..... so how good is it really

Nissan brag about it's ability to embarrass 911's and lap the nurburgring but if YOU buy one and use it in this way they will void your warranty. All they have to do is plug in the PC and look at how it has been driven
Porsche on the other hand would ask you why your driving your 911 like a f*nny and take it off you for being such a p*ssy

My advice, if you want a true sports car that you can drive the nuts off all day long...... get a Porsche, then you can wave at the GT-R owners sitting in the service area at their local Nissan dealer as you drive by on your way to the race circuit

I have a GT-R. Mine was No.7 to be delivered in the UK.

The warranty situation is not an issue. Basically, you are not allowed to fully disable the ESP as doing this MAY void your warranty should your gearbox later go bang. There is a race mode for the ESP which is very lenient and allows the rear to slide nicely on track. The launch control also works in this Race mode, therefore there is no need to turn it off unless you want to go drifting in your £60k car......

There are also some caveats to using the car on track, namely that if you do track it, then you need to visit your dealer for a "post track inspection" where they will check over the car and if all is ok, then the warranty stands. If anything is broken as a result of tracking, then this would need to be fixed at your cost before the warranty is reinstated. You can also have an optional pre-track inspection. They also say that engine/gearbox oil will need to be changed if during track use they have exceeded certain temps.

That's it really, nothing to onerous in my opinion - whenever I tracked my RS4's they would have a check-up and fluid change anyway.

Seen both in the rear view mirror of my 911 Turbo lol. Neighbour has a GTR and a 911 but he is already fed up with the Datsun and Skyline jokes so needless to say he will be off loading it soon. Personally I like it but he is more of a badge snob

I'd have a GTR in a heartbeat although you can pick up a 996 GT2 these days for less and that is a serious temptation...

and 996 gt2 is a serious bit of kit, but has no back seats for the kids...very specialised bit of kit too...get it wrong in one of those and your in very big trouble indeed!

The gearbox hasn't been modified, but the launch control software has for Euro cars. I think the launch revs are now 3.5k rather than 4k. Also, you can only launch with ESP in race mode if you want to keep your warranty. The problems in the US mainly stem from a few idiots doing launch after launch and then wondering why their gearbox fell out.

Personally, I never did launches like that in my RS4's out of mechanical sympathy, and I wouldn't do it in the GT-R for the same reason - even if it is "available" as a function.

Forget about 996 GT2, you can have a 996 Turbo for less money than a GT-R and friend of mine just has! 997 GT2, now you're talking although I would still have a LP560-4 in a heart beat instead

I'd actually like to try the high-power RW drive option...it'd probably improve my driving skills...I've had 4WD cars now for over 10 years...

A 997 GT2...only a few in the country aren't there so the price is way beyond me...

Conversely, I'm not sure I could live with the stigma of driving an Italian bit of kit (excepting a Maeserati)...let alone the servicing costs...

I don't have kids so space isn't an issue...especially when we've got a oil burner for load lugging.

But GTR has got to be first choice still...or a R400.

Saw a snot green RS yesterday...doesn't do it for me...
