cops can't make any cash out of you so its a low priority id imagine...moog wrote:Thanks all.
Currently I don't have the third party details, and the police don't seem to have acheived a great deal so far, although they do have a probable registration number and make of car, so not altogether sure yet whether I will get any details in time to make any difference.
On the plus side, I suppose I will appreciate my own car all the more when i get it back.
Damaged RS4 & Courtesy Car
Was it Avus with buckets and round steering wheel?I had an RS4 from Accident Exchange
My wife had a minor accident in May last year - single track road, bend to the right, braked and moved to right side to avoid a pheasant. Car came in the other direction, neither car managed to stop and wife didn't mange to get all the way back to the left and the cars clipped mirrors which were detroyed. It is not the value and cost of supplying better / equivalent spec. cars that are given, more the companies and how they manage the process coupled with the ever increasing number of personal injury claims resulting from accidents.
Come renewal time a few months later I had to phone up to get details of claim value and was absolutely shocked at £5,232 for broken mirrors (admittedly paint repairs too as the bits got caught between the cars). It seems anything over £700 total damage between the 2 cars and the ins co will pay out personal injury without disputing it - they use this value to deem there must have been significant impact. The woman in the other car claimed for whiplash to her and brusing to the groin of her little boy that was in his car seat ......remember the only parts that hit each other were the mirrors.
After the old bloke hit me I was asked several times if I had any injuries - I not saying they were pushy but it was a bit more than a simple question....

Forgot to add that my wife was 7 months pregnant at the time and didn't suffer any ill effects. Insurance companies view was that it was cheaper to just pay out to the other party than get lawyers/doctors involved and dispute it.PetrolDave wrote: That's outrageous!
She should be prosecuted for fraud.
When my claim was being settled I felt that I being encouraged to make a claim for personal injury - was asked several times.
