Not really - the groan on lock is normal and OK.

In fact two reasons for that:

1. whilst in motion - the tyre ackermann angle coupled with the 4WD results in tyre scrub that sounds nasty but is actually OK
2. the PS is operating against shut in and so the pump makes anoise.

Mine was slightly noisy at all times when the steering was actuated. So, there's an advisory from Audi that will change to a thinner CHF if the owner mentions it - bit like the 0090 affair.

Emissions light came on at about 27k together with misfire and severe loss of power, Audi Assist tried coil pack to no avail, dealer changed various parts (not sure what), then Audi agreed to a new engine. Dealers first thoughts were misfueling so was dreading a battle with Shell as its only ever had Vpower.

The loose trim in the boot was very annoying though....
