Les. the ownership experience somewhat depends on your chosen service department's knowledge of the RS4. I had the front shocks replaced on my 07 plate Avant around six months ago (with around 10,000 miles on the clock, from memory) but I don't view this as being a major issue as (a) the dealer's professionalism and behaviour (Camberley Audi) was exemplary and (b) Audi came up with the goods on the five year warranty wrt DRC. It has to be said that the positives of owning the car overwhelmingly outweigh any negatives.

What I like:

* Being on the autobahn at an indicated 175mph in a 4 door saloon full of gear and with 1000rpm to go - crazy to put a limiter in a car like this IMHO. There must only be a handful of 4 doors that will do that!

* 4.5 sec 0-60 times day in day out.

* A 8250rpm redline.

* The inflatable buckets.

* The flat-bottomed steering-wheel. Start of a trend wasn't it?

* In a country where it must be wet more than 50% of the time the AWD performance means that the car is almost as easy to drive in the wet as the dry...and the feeling of security this offers is worth a few quid. I'm not sure whether I'd laugh or cry if I had to drive a C63 as hard as I drive my RS4 in the wet...

* The V8 soundtrack. My neighbour tells me he can hear me coming from miles away. I give it beans just for him, of course.

* The quality of the interior finish. I honestly would not change anything except the annoying chime if you exceed 15mph without your seatbelt on. I'm sure I could turn this off with VAGCOM.

* The practicality i.e., the size of the boot. It will take all our ski/snowboard gear for 2 week trips down to the family pad in the Alps. You can fit snowboard carriers/bike carriers/roof-box and not look like you bought the wrong car to be doing what you're doing!

* Its subtleness which, so far, has meant no bu**er has keyed it. I like owning a "sleeper" which only enthusiasts appreciate.

Thats a few...

Couldnt have put it better!!!! apart from the snowboard gear!! :lol:

The F430 spider on the M4 at the weekend was surprised to see me still in his rear view at 160 after he tried to get away - so much so he pulled over and followed me to the petrol station just to ask "what the hell it was" :D

It's 'kin great...... No problems so far, I doubt there is a more capable allrounder out there. It's dangerousto read these forums as they tend to accentuate the negatives!

Buy it, enjoy it then sell it ( maybe..... ).......

Ps... There is also a lot of useful and relevent info available on this site!!

Cheers.

I love it. Owned mine since Dec 08, done 3500 miles in it. I had the DRC and wheel bearing replaced in week one of ownership. Other than that I have put in a litre or so of oil, lots of fuel, four new tyres, and front brakes - OUCH. And I cannot think of a car I'd rather have, and I've owned a few for comparison. Booked in with Worthing Audi, who are brilliant, in a weeks time for service, and a couple of warranty issues, discoloured window trims (which are being replaced under warranty), and a very slight knock from the osf front.

I just cannot see a car to replace it with, until the kids get bigger, and 4 months ownership for me is over half my usual ownership of a car!!

And that's testament to the motor as you are running it in Desert heat :D

The chrome strips along the bottom of the windows - One of the strips you would replace for the black optics - Mine have water marks in them. I have aksed to have mine changed for black, but under warranty it has to be like for like

No need to try it on - This is a £50k car and it shouldn't happen

Owned my Avant since Nov 06, and no major issues over the past 22000 miles. Its in for DRC in a few days, but thats a known issue and Audi have responded, so not concerned.

One useful tip is to regularly change the oil outside of the service interval - just got my delivery today from Opie :-).

Awesome guys this really is more like it :D

Having owned a Porsche I appreciate that special cars require some TLC but I just can't wait to pick the RS4 up :D Every review and test showed the car to be absolutely amazing and I am certain it is going to be a pleasure owning it. Got more pictures today, it looks the business in a very subtle way, like a mark 4 R32 i had a few years ago (accept twice as special of course).

For all you other guys like myself buying or planning to buy, hope this has helped to ease your concerns 8)

All cars have problems but few can keep pace with Ferraris whilst carrying your golf clubs and better half at the same time! Marcus RS4 love that story, pure class.

Thanks for all the replies folks keep them coming for all us soon to be RS4 owners.

Les.
