Look at it like this: If you impulse buy and then are later either bored or disappointed or anxious about money, then you can always blame the impulsiveness of the purchase. If you do the research, build yourself up, discuss at length, do yer homework etc. etc. and still get bored, disappointed or skint, then you've nothing to blame but yourself!

Out of interest what was the deal you had on this car?
I'm looking at the moment and am unsure how far dealers can be pushed on price.

32k with new front discs and pads and wheels swapped off another car as they had a poor refurb,I will have it if they will do it for 30k,that way it goes someway to covering the wasted payments i will make on the finance until i get it cleared,I slipped up to be honest as the sales controler asked me from the off what would it take to do the deal today and i told him 32k and a decent trade in on my mini,i should of gone in harder fro the off as they agreed to 32k straight away but mini offer wasnt good enough £500 less than trade and with a very good spec/colour etc This particular RS4 was over age stock bought in from another dealer that had tried it at daft money for 3 months,i would suggest recently traded in examples will be the best to go after as they will have been purchased at better prices, older stock at dealers may be harder to deal on as the cars may well owe them what there asking for them judging by what theyre falling in value on a monthly basis,Im trying to minimise my exposure in owning an B7 RS4 by owning it outright and buying it well, theyre loosing enough each month without interest of a loan added on,saloons are suffering a little more than avants,The dealer was keen to do a deal for his year end figures so may not be so keen in the new year i dont know,The impulsiveness very nearly got me on the day, deposit paid etc if i hadnt slept on it and it was all done in a day it would be on my drive now along with the B5 and cooper s still, which wouldnt of that bad eh?

At least you are over the first hurdle of whether to buy one. The dealer may not want to do a deal in he New year, but if you sell of your two other cars RS4's will have dropped probably as much as your two cars combined so getting all the money in place may be the best idea.

One other thing that did miff me a little was myself paying for tax on the car this was something i would have engineered back into there bill if possible,I was a little shocked at £220 for 6 months compared to my B5

Bit cheeky, I would also have haggled it into the deal, I got 12 months tax out of my dealer when I bought my RS4

The way im seeing it is i will be 2-3k better off with selling my cars myself and by then the RS4 will have dropped a bit more aswell hence creating me an overall much better entry into B7 ownership,im not frightened of buying private or even fleebay as long as the car is right, theyre all still under warranty

Think this was the car at Doncaster Audi?
Was talking to them before xmas about a deal. It was advertised at £33k they offered £18.5k for my A4 S-line 170 Avant Special Edition on a 57plate and led me to believe they might throw some tax in with the deal. Hadnt seen the car (200mile journey) was told it was spot on condition even the wheels!
Might be worth trying them again to see if theres any more in the deal knowing they accepted £32k and discs and wheels arn't up to spec.
Was the body and interior in excellent condition (This is what they told me)
Any info on car would be helpfull thanks.

Was told it was from York Audi but hey lots of sales patter was flying, overall a genuine straight car but did need some minor chips attending to on front bumper and o/s wheel arch, new screen was agreed, and leather smart repair on drivers side bolster to make like new,the seat was better than a later cab that they had on the forecourt and a red avant they have just sold, the wheels may look ok to joe bloggs but a closer look easily spots the crap paintwork, front discs were nearer the end of there life than new so i pushed for them to get done,The only thing i would look at is the fact the front wings have been tweeked at some point im 99% sure the car is on full origonal paintwork but the front wings have definatly been reset at some point,I had the car up on the ramps for further inspection its never been jigged and no signs of a repair but its hard to view chassis legs etc its a pretty full engine bay,i was told it may well of been snagged on final build inspection but i would inspect it further prior to parting with money,Its a fantastic car to drive and i did take it for a very very good drive one of the salesman said hes never in 10 years been on a test drive like it!!!It could do with a machine polish to return it to as new and remove a couple of faint scratches but i would do that myself and i am pretty anal about my cars,it wasnt clear if it had oil done at 19k the longlife service was ticked but not oil in the service book,i would get it done if they couldnt prove it had been,i couldnt really decide from dipping it wether it was fresh or not,any more info just ask

Thanks for that, perhaps I will wait for something else to come up at a good price in the new year.

If the buckets are working, you would know. There are options in the dash (and via VAG-com) to disable them though....

I should just say that if the disks and pads are within a tolerance of needing changing then they aren't doing you a favour by changing them, it is part of their obligation under the 'Audi Approved' scheme. The RS4 I have now had 3 mm left on the tyres when I was looking to buy it and all 4 were replaced as part of the charter plus a service albeit it was 2k miles early.
