How does your RS4 run on Supermarket super U/L ?

I found the Tesco 99 to be a tad better than V-Max, but the nearest Tesco station isn't convenient, so I only get it occasionally.

Fuel economy was down by about 8-10% as well, normally get 360-370 from a tank of super, only managed 340 last night.

That's because of the higher sulphur content of 95 petrol compared to 98/99.

FSI engines have an extra cat that absorbs the extra NOx that is inherent from a lean burn engine, but that cat gets "poisoned" by the sulphur in the petrol so every now and then the ECU takes the engine out of lean burn mode and advances the timing to increase the temperature of the exhaust gases to burn of the absorbed sulphur.

So higher sulphur content = more often coming out of lean burn = increased fuel consumption - all the figures I've seen agree with your 8-10% worse fuel economy.

So if 98/99 costs less than 8-10% more than 95 it's actually CHEAPER for us to use it because of the better fuel economy. So a 7p premium is break-even, less than that and it's a no-brainer...
