Yeah I've heard that if they want the car then they will get it, it doesnt matter on your level of security. I guess we were just unlucky. It's just frustrating that it has been spotted and then lost.

Very interesting about the Hampshire police. Please keep your eyes peeled for it!

Does anyone know if they ship these kind of cars abroad? I know alot of Mercs are taken to Cyprus at the moment

Bazzards.

want shooting with a blunt bullet made of there own sh1t.

if a gang robbed a post office or a bank and got away with say ten grand, they would be banged up for 5 years or so, they steal a car worth 40 and get nothing when they do get caught. Makes me spit rivets. Bazzards.
It's all Bollox.
Half of what you read is bull and the other half is all <beep>.

Sorry to hear about your car being stolen. I was stopped in my B7 RS4 Avant on Saturday morning by Hampshire Police in Swaythling, Southampton.

Their reason for stopping me was because a recently stolen RS4 was in the area & to check my ID.

They also mentioned cloned plates & a bank robbery!

P.S. Hello all as this is my first post!

Had our stable block broken into last week, the police paid a visit and commented on my RS4; said that they'd be surprised if I still had it at Xmas  His general advice was to hide keys away to deter them from entering the house, generally speaking if they can't see the keys they won't risk a search and potential confrontation. My wife isn't too happy and is now pushing me to get rid, the only thing stopping me is re-sale values at the moment. Could someone explain what a key finder is, can they be jammed?

Hi BarnRS, do you drive a black saloon? Thats interesting as Hampshire police were the last ones that spotted the car!

Blue62 I can understand why your wife is a little concerned as the way they broke into our house was pretty awful Some people say hide the keys some say dont as they may come and find them. My one bit of advice is to make sure there is nothing in the car when it is parked up and make sure you get a really good tracker. The one we had was not great and only went off once in 3 weeks.

Hi Emma, really sorry to hear about your plight. I personally think Trackers have had their day, the professionals can beat tracker while the casual joy rider will probably have driven your car to breaking point before he gets caught, I wouldn't want it back. It's interesting that my visit from the police revealed that most expensive cars go abroad for sale and gangs are targeting rural areas. The reason the RS4 is on the shopping list is 4 doors and a boot, it's a perfect 'get away' car. He was insistent that you should hide keys away, it's highly unlikely that they will risk a confrontation, so will move on to an easier target.

Don't tracker give some sort of insurance against your car not being returned if their unit is prof installed (or was that way back in the day when they were all new and relatively unknown?)

That's really odd, maybe they have found it after all but are not saying if it was involved in a robbery. Thanks for that info...mind you there are not many police cars that can keep up with an RS4 when it's moving!

Tracker dont give any insurance anymore. When ever we call them they seem really disinterested. I get the feeling the 'joyrider theives' are picked up using tracker but the profesionals know where they are and how to jam them.

Emma,

I think I will be calling tracker and ask them 'why' they can't find your car .. I assume you are OK with this ?

Little update, I changed the above ask them where was my car .. so they are going to ping it and check.

Call Tracker technical support direct on 01895 455 777

Hi Andy,

I gave them a call and they said they have had no updates and it's really rare that this happens?! Anyway the lady said she has pushed it to her management team and they will call back tomorrow - so fingers crossed. It's been 3 weeks now and all that we have heard was there was a sighting a couple of weeks ago.

Tracker are a waste of time by the sounds of it. If you have problems with the insurance, I would look into a top up from them. Just my opinion, of course.
