Pippy, you beat me too it, and I'm sure for some people a non res non valved system is fine I just find at low rpm it can be a bit drowny even with S mode off..... I'd still go for the valves ever day of the week as I think it's a good combo of the best of both worlds! just IMO though.

Mike do it mate!! the sound is amazing!!! if you want to hear it give me a bell

cheers

Jim

Hmmm im tempted now to join the club, I would def go for the None Res, valved version as it will be the best of both worlds (to a point) however are thes both CAT Back systems for 1800k? also is i worth considering keeping the old system for resale time?

Also is it really a +10bhp increase in power or is it more like a 2-3bhp increse as with most N/A engine exhaust systems?

most companies who fit the system will store your OEM system free of charge until your ready to sell then go back and swap them over!

don't really know any in London, got mine done at APS near Silvestone, there must be a few good companies in town though..... best bet is to phone around and go with who you feel comfortable with. or wait for others to reply on here who may know who's hot and who's not so to speak.....

good luck

I also got mine from APS - Non Valved Non Res. Great guys at APS. They have a deal on the Milltek at the moment too - 10% off and free fitting if you order before end of October. That clinched it for me.

For me the valves are not worth the extra cost. You can easily moderate the sound of the exhaust with your right foot. OK, its never going to be quiet at 6 in the morning or 11 at night but double the cost is a huge difference.

Also, I like the exhaust loud all the time. If I had the valved system it would mean engaging Sport all the time and around town that can be a pain due to the sensitive throttle mapping.

Either way its a great system.
Bail out, bail out, bail out.
Do I have to wait for you to say it three times.......

Agreed, what clinched it for me was the price of the non res/non valved - i picked it up on here 2nd hand for £250 and was 6 months old.

I would have got one far sooner but the extra cost for the valves put me off. I dedcided to take a risk with the non valved and it paid off :D

p.s.

They must be very friendly/huge garages if they are will to store the oe system for an indefinite period. It's worth noting to those thinking of changing the oe system comes off in one piece so will need to be cut to transport unless you have a big estate !( I had less than an inch to spare in my mates Passat estate!)

It depends on the attitude of the dealer and/or the regional Audi specialist.

If you have a possibly related failure (e.g. an engine exhaust valve burns out) then they might try and argue that it's because you've fitted a non-standard exhaust (and thereby increased the exhaust temperatures causing the valve to burn out) to save them having to pay the (not inconsiderable) cost of replacement.

Are the iltek valves compatable with the OEM Audi valves, i.e. could they be swapped over if one fails/breaks?

@Maxh: is that all Miltek systems or just the non valved non-res? Im really up for getting one now, but i dont think i could go for th none res none valve option just in case lol

I dont believe that the OEM valves are compatable with the Milltek.

The offer is for all Milltek exhausts. Their website says:

"Until the end of October we are offering all cat back Milltek exhausts with 10% off retail price AND free fitting!

Why not drop us a line and take advantage of this fantastic offer!"

I'll PM their details as I don't know whether they are a sponsor here.

Milltek valves work in a different manner to the OEM valves so not compatible.

As P_G has said, you wouldnt be able to swap valves across between systems etc.
