Just to say it was a CAN bus issue with a module that had been fitted to give the TV in motion function. all sorted now!!

If you want TV in motion the CAN bus module that interrupts the speed signal is about the worst way there is to do it - it slows down the sat nav screen position update as well (sometimes there's no update for as much as 30 seconds!).

Best way is to throw that module in the bin and get someone (in Manchester?) to do the VIM SW update to your sat nav which has no such problem.
