No doubt some 1 will cleare this up!
RS4 IN IRELAND - MORGAN CARS
At the risk of repeating whats already been alluded to:
Importing a car to NI from the Mainland is a lovely way of wiping its history. I lived in NI until last year, I had bought a B5 on the Mainland, but as you will appreciate, when it came time to re-tax it, it was a case of either sending all the bumph back to the Mainland, or having the tax office in Belfast "import" the car and tax it through Coleraine....no need to change the plates to NI, continued to wear the old X reg plates.
Log book was duly republished by Coleraine....
When I came to PX the car earlier this month, I had the devil's own job convincing the garage that the car was genuine. I said it had had 1 previous owner to me, but the new log book said it hadn't had any - despite descrepancy in first reg date and date I acquired the vehicle. Garage also HPI'd the car, and checked with DVLA in Swansea (?) but no data available on previous history before me.
Lots of fun and games ensued, but I was able to eventually produce the previous log book which did show 1 previous owner, so we all parted friends and they took the car.
Might I suggest talking to Agnews on the Boucher Road to ascertain whether they have and previous servicing history etc on the car - if they sold it - and as the only Audi franchise in the Province (?) I suspect they did, if it is a genuine NI motor, they at least should have its history....?
Apologies for being long winded, and even larger apologies if you've been down this road already, but I feel quite strongly about ringer motors, and I would hate to see you suffer from buying one.
Regards
Matt

It's a well known loop hole in the salvage business who deal in Cars with Cat C and D history. Cars originating from Ireland/Ulster or UK cars regsistered in Ireland/Ulster and then brought back to the UK loose their history when HPI'ed.floydstar wrote:I have the HPI data and it looks fine, it is a NI car. I really wanted to know what RSVirgin meant by the car 'was a dog' when he had someone go and look at it...
