My Audi RS4 Has Just Been Stolen
Hello mate,
it's just bloody Awful, Been there myself when they took my RS6 and A3 3.2 As you say the main thing is you and your family are ok. Did you have a tracker fitted? I hate to say it but the worst thing is what happens afterwards. Before my cars were stolen I would have slept through WW3 but now I'm up all night curtain twitching to check the cars are ok, my wife is the same the slightest little noise and we’re up looking out the windows. Not sure if others who have had there's stolen would agree? At the end of the day it's a lump of metal. as much as we all love our cars it's nothing compared to your family. My son was 5 months when we got broken into and my first reaction was to go to his room and check he was ok. Any decent insurance company will pay out and with any luck you took out Gap insurance too? if you didn't do it this time! You’ll find another RS4 to buy I'm sure.
It really gets my back up when we all work hard to pay for nice things in life and the scum just take them........
Good luck with your claim and keep us all posted.
Jim

I had my S4 stolen and I was in the living room at the time! They cut a hole in my back door and stole the keys which I had left out on a unit. I didn't realise till the next morning. I was paid out but I had to go through the Financial Ombudsman to get the Ins. Co. to pay out a fair price (No gap ins.).Be thankful that you didn't disturb them as they wouldn't think twice about roughing up you or your family. My advice is don't hide the keys, the last thing you want is somebody tapping you on the shoulder at 3am when your in bed asking 'politely' for the keys.
Its just a car , family first, you are all safe , thats what matters , it will get better but it will take time then all will go back to normal in your home.
I think maybe it is better to leave the keys downstairs, reason. If they came for the car get them out ASAP , if they didn't come for the car they may be side tracked into taking the car and leave. Either way best thing to do is make sure you have a set of locked gates between your home and the street and if possible no direct line of sight from the road to the house/garage. Dont let the insurance company get away with a single penny, you have paid them for years.

Yes I agree, my immediate reaction here was to find a better hiding place for my own keys, but then I thought, might as well leave them in an obvious kitchen drawer as I would much rather not have the family risked, and in this era of knive weilding better to let the car go. Mind you If I was allowed to have a handgun in the house I think I would hide the keys very well & quite enjoy tackling any would be car thieves!!
Did your car have a tracker on it?..these thieves take a big risk with cars like these as most of us do need trackers for insurance, so it must be relatively easy for the police to catch up with them. I never have quite understood why you dont have tracker stickers in an obvious place on the car windows or something as surely it would deter these car jackers. Im sure they would not be able to locate the device very quickly if at all if it was correctly fitted...Ive always found that strange!

But there are ways to block a tracker signal , so might be better to leave them with the idea of no tracker for as long as possible.
What are the laws , re fire arms (shot gun, any gauge) in the US we awlays had a few rock salt cartiridges at hand , and I can say first hand that rock salt hurts in a way that is hard to explain , but shot in the arse and the back of legs, you are not able to sit or walk very well for at least 3 days. To pick out the salt hurts just as much so it works well and you dont kill anyone. But let me guess , in the UK that would give the scum the upper hand in court.

Not going to explain on here (fairly clear why not) but yes it can be done and it is not as hard as you might think, sorry but no going to go into detail without knowing EXCATALY who wants to know.mac4RS wrote:Interesting - how's that acheived. But there are ways to block a tracker signal

As I mentioned earlier, these thieves could be looking at these replies now, don't let them know if your car has tracker fitted anyone.
This car will either be parked in a garage with the thieves waiting to see if the old bill turn up, letting them know it has tracker fitted, or, it has already been stripped of
as many parts as possible and left to be found.

Sympathies from me as well, but as others have said it's only a car - you and your's are safe which is the most important thing.
What's people's thought's on CCTV as a deterrent? It seems car alarms, trackers, house alarms don't really put them off if they think they can scarper fast enough, but would they risk their images being captured by a camera?
