Mine's fine, just as good as my previous S4 which coped perfectly well with the day in 2006 that showed 38 Celsius on the DIS. In fact the air is so cold that my wife always adjusts the vents away from her face.

I never turn mine off even in winter. When it's icy it automatically disengages the compressor, but when it's not that cold I get warm dry air which clears the windows much faster than if you have the air con off (try it next winter if you don't believe me).

Ditto - only really turn it off or put it into 'Econ' mode when the windows are open 8)

Never turn mine off either - following the advice received after the a/c service I had done on a previous car (ok, it was a BMW)

Leave on all time. Within 3 mins of starting engine, giving cool air. Today 26°C out, inside just fine. Can't complain.

The A/C on my B5 is colder and flows more air than my B7.

Works great here , normally set to 20ºC and air is plenty cold enough, takes a few mins to cool the car but mainly due to the dash being soo damn hot.

Had the climate set to 21 today with an outside temperature of 29 showing and it cooled down my black Avant that had been parked in full sun within a couple of minutes.

Just checked mine on the way home - seems fine to me. I think sometimes on a dull day the air may not be quite as cool as you may expect if it's set to 18 or 19 degrees - something to do with how it works out the best air temp from the sensors, but when it needs to be it seems suitably cold. Of course, ambient wise it'll be harder to cool an avant with the greater interior volume.

I have just been without my car for 2 days and have been in a 2.0 TDI A4 B7. I would say without doubt the Air-con in the RS4 is a smaller unit than a normal A4. It was so much colder than my car. I have mine on 16/17 pretty much all the time. But in the A4 if I had it on 21 it was still too cold...... had to press the eco button and I’ve never thought of doing that in mine. Don't get me wrong the Air-con in the RS does the job but I'm now very much convinced it's not the same as a standard car. I wonder if anyone knows the real deal?

Maybe the aircon unit is the same size as on an A4 but since it's pulling in much hotter air that's been heated by the engine (the heater inlet is at the back edge of the bonnet) it doesn't cool down as much?

I'm sure any Audi spares dept will be able to give you that info, ie size and power of each air con unit.

Mine wasn't great so I had it checked out by a specialist. The gas was very low, so that was topped up and the the pressure tested. All is functioning fine, but it's still not exactly frosty.
