A slight down grade in my opinion but at least the fuel bills will be reduced!!!
I have the new 635D Sport (not remmaped yet) I get 38MPG and it goes like stink.

Maybe that's a good price (I neither know nor care) but surely it's an insane hobby buying brand new, and then selling during the near-vertical depreciation of year 1

If I wanted to lose nearly £2k a month, I'd have bought a horse!

I have been in this "Insane" possition so many times, BUT NO more, I will I hope never buy brand new again for this very reason you mention. :P

...or just hang on to them a bit longer? Nothing wrong with buying a new car, but (financially) there's a lot wrong with selling a nearly new one...

And dont forget the depreciation on a BMW is frightening aswell. How does trade in for a 14k miles '07 plate for £33k sound? Thats £15k depreciation in 8 months if list price had been paid.

As another owner on here who has both, make sure your completely happy with the auto box - its as thick as syrup at low speeds as the torque converter hooks up. Yes its fast, especially at the top end but IMO the RS4 gives more enjoyment even if the fuel costs are higher.

I was offered 17K less from the stealer who sold me the A8TDI Sport 4.2 diesel, 9 months after I bought it!!!!!
Told them to F*ck off, sold it private, so BMW are not alone when it comes to losses, before I sold the RS4 to an enthusiast, Audi offered 42K on a 6 month old car!!!, you just have to laugh at them. 8)

I'm waving good bye to my car tomorrow, i managed to get £47k for it in the end an offer to good to refuse in my opinion! It's been fun owning it and a nice experience having it from brand new as the B7 RS4 will go down in history as one of the greatest cars ever made! :bigwave:

Looking perhaps at changing my car over the next few months
I have and Apr 06 saloon with 19,000 on the clock
Tried out a nearly new M5 touring a few weeks ago Was offered £37K for mine, about what I expected
Would love an RS6 avant but at £77K my wife would go nuts if I spent that amount on a car, £54K new on mine took some convincing!
I need a bigger car ( 6yr old and 'one on the way' ) but just can't bring myself to go 'green' and 'practical' at the same time.
RS4 great for the corners and times when I'm in the car on my own, but loaded with family +stuff it just feels a bit cramped
Think a nearly new S6 Avant might be best compromise and I might get a better part-ex from an Audi dealer

Good luck 88wiff

dociain - it's what you (and your family) are used to. We've done France maybe 30 times with B5/6/7 Avants, and whilst a roof box helps, it's by no means essential. That's with an 8 & 10 year old...

All thanks for your replies- it appears you takes your chance. Wiff does the person who took your want another one....
I will not buy a new BMW coz of the depreciation. For me its as much having £40k odd tied up in a car that is being used as much as it should or indeed as it should.
If anyone is thinking of buying or knows someone then let me know

I have brought a 07/07 5 Series, it's already lost a big chunk of it's money so i'm on a level playing field!!! I paid £33k the car new was £48k its an individual with loads of options.
