I must admit a mod friendly dealer is hard to come by, our local lot stick to every letter of the book. They wouldn't cover the RS4 brake upgrade on my S4 even though it was OEM parts. Kinda understandable as it is not OEM equipment, however they wouldn't even look at them when I thought they were warped without a bit a cajoling.

As for the RS I'm also impressed moreseo with the handling having come from a modified B6 S4, just wish it had a little more low down grunt like my old car.

I think Audi are missing a trick here - Look at all the threads on re-maps, Milteks, mods etc etc. The dealers could make a killing if they offered an upgrade for this sort of stuff and as it is carried out by Audi Tech's warranty is all ok.

IMHO I would go to my dealer everyday over a third party even if it was more expensive, just for 'piece of mind'

I know my dealer encourages mods to be done there as it makes money!

The Saloons are even quicker, so i support your point fully.
Persuading my wife that an RS4 was the right 'family' car was hard enough and the only way i managed to do this was by getting the Avant under the 'practical car' avenue!

Glad you agree with what I have said yes I will get a Miltek and a re-map but only because I can! The only very slight issue I have is redline in first go to second and for a split second I find it a bit 'bogy' which I am assured will be cured with the re-map.

Interestingly the re-map was recommended by head tech at my Audi dealer and Miltek is being done at Audi, by him!

what remap did the Audi tech recommend????
RS4 B7 Sedan 2006 Phantom Black
Solar Panel Sunroof / I pod
MODS- H+R Springs / H+R Front/Rear Sway Full Milltek This week
Current B7 RS4 1/4 mile record holder 12.883

E46 M3 SMG sold / But not forgotten
Chrysler Crossfire Roadster - sold

AMD as he knows the guys there well and has done a lot with no prob at all. Which IMO is good enough for me

The car is quick enough just needs a little bit of tweaking!

That's interesting to hear Si. Is that still the case now they have lost a number of their people to APS and been taken over by BBT in Thurrock?

What combination Milltek are you having fitted Si? I'm curious to know from someone what the acoustic difference is OEM vs. Milltek first hand in 'non sport' mode as I'm pondering on a valved catback with non resonated centre sections

SimonFv8,

The general consensus is that the traction control system is responsible for the shift behaviour between 1st and 2nd.

Turn it off (one short press) and it goes away.

I'm sure the "remap guys" will tell you whether or not their remaps have addressed this rather aggressive (or conservative, depending on how you look at it) power-cutting behaviour by the car's electronics.

Its one of my minor issues with the car but with the option to turn it off, I can cope with that.

SimonFV8 wrote:Hi Guys

After reading a few threads on here about the acceleration / speed of our beloved RS4's I'd just like to stay I took mine out for a really good blast last night and OMG its quick!

It has just covered 3K miles and it was one of the first times i had an empty country road with no family and a warm car!

Its going in for a re-map and Miltek in the next few weeks so it can only get better!

How can anyone doubt the performance of this 5 seat estate car?? IMHO I could not handle a faster car on the sort of road i was on. Having had very fast cars in the past I am either getting old or this car is seriously quick and best of all the V8 noise!

So glad I went for adaptive headlights!

All I can say is :biggrin3:
Well, maybe after driving some faster cars, this one doesn't seem so fast after all. Anyway, after a sport bike, all cars feel slow.

Yep off road, downhill, my mountain bike is probably quicker than my RS4!

The re-map has had no effect on this issue, like you i just turn it off.

The ECU is meant to learn your driving behaviour and adapt but that has a big flaw in that if you spend most of your time on Motorways and only a small amount of time hammering it in the lower gears how's it ever going to adapt?

Thanks for that. So basically one push on the ESP button , the orange light comes on in the instrument panel and problem solved, but the car can wheel spin etc? What happens if you keep the button pushed down? I remember see Fifth gear or something when Tiff pushed the button down for 6 seconds or so

One quick push and it just turns off the traction control, so yes it could wheelspin but it's unlikely. (light flashes, annoyingly)
Even in the rain its hard to break it loose, its one of the best aspects of the car.

Hold the button in for a few secs and the light stays on.This turns off both traction control and ESP.
