Guys,
I can vouch for the fact that it will also play CDs burnt straight from iTunes in AAC format. I have the 6 CD changer by the way.

iTunes just coverts it back to audio CD format i.e. 80 mins max. MP3 CD's allow approx 10x more tracks on the CD. This would give you 60 albums worth on the 6 CD. :D

Does anyone happen to know who makes the head unit, or the decoder?

The RNS-E is made by Aisin in Japan - what do you mean by decoder (it's all in one box)?
