How does that compare with the stock system??
Just been to the garage as I thought looking at your pics that they were not any bigger, I was wrong. The standard OEMs are 5 1/2 horizontal x 3 1/4 vertical. So 3/4 of an inch wider both ways. Can you explain what a Cat Back is?

TBH, my piccies are not the best as i had to use the flash with the car being in the garage. Saying that, i was convinced the exits on the Milltek were noticably bgger than stock & my stock pipes being black made them look even smaller. Cheers for checking & confirming what i thought.

Cat Back means it's the exhaust from the Catalytic Converter back that's replaced. On a B7 RS4, the 2 Catalytic Converters (one for each bank) are quite far forward, being sited roughly just forwards of the front seats, so alot of exhaust incorporated in a cat back system for our cars.

You can get a Milltek front system with IIRC 2 different Cell formats as well as sports downpipes. Check out either the Milltek website or Awesome GTI's website for more detail.

I decided against sports cats etc. as i've heard of a large number of issues as the ecu picks up & displays emission warnings/faults & then the car starts to run lean which is not really advisable. I went for responated which is margianally quieter when cruising that non resonated & i also wanted to retain the valves so the sport button still opens up the flaps (you can see them clearly on the piccies).

Is there a difference in output, bhp, when the valves are open or closed? Proven of course.

I have non-res and non-valved, also have decats on the way.

Should hear it coming!!
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

No idea & i doubt it's even worth the effort in trying as any difference even a dyno would struggle to pick up. I was told that the only difference between non res/non valve & res/valved was the noise & Sport button functionality. I do longer journeys so did not want the extra booming that non res gives over res. Also of course wanted to retain some Sport button functionality so went for valved as well, although opting for valved pushes the price up by about £400.

I know the car pulls stronger with the Milltek, so it's noticable but not a marked difference, so at best i'd say you're talking 2-4BHP at best. Sports cats will make a bigger power difference, but as we now they can also cause big problems, so i decided against taking that risk.

One thing i'm now wondering, having done VMAX on Sunday & post re-map, is if this 60% throttle without Sport & 100% throttle with Sport is still the case?? Apart from the very noticable change in exhaust noise & of course the seats, i noticed no differences in acceleration & no differences in top speed between Sport on/off. Both modes have a noticable shove at 5500RPM.
