rAudiguy,

Unfortunately it occurs throughout the turning circle. You are quite correct that it does happen whilst I am moving slowly and whilst stationary.

To be honest I think its something to do with the bushes or the suspension as I have massive speed ramps near my house. I guess I have to take it to the dealer, its a year old with 20K miles and I still have a years warrantly left. ( I had better remember to renew that!)

I would imagine that this fault is covered by the warranty?

I would be very surprised if it wasn't covered. Best just get it down there ASAP and kick up a bit of a stink. Bloody speed humps are a nightmare. the roads around my way are rubbish and i've had a number of problems over the years with susspension on my cars.

I'm sure they will sort it out for you:)

good luck

Jim

Jim,

I will be taking it to the local dealer this week and take your advise by kicking up a stink! You are right about the speed humps, the ones around here are massive, honestly its almost absurd how high they are.

I will be posting the results here when I hear back from the dealer and let everyone know how I got on.

Cheers

Similar noise

Post by Krode » Tue Oct 09, 2007 10:24 pm

Hi,
I think I may have had the same fault...

I have had my 06 RS4 Avant since July and within a few days of ownership I was experiencing a noise during very low speed manoeuvring.

Reported fault to my dealer and they suggested I take a technician for a test drive. Fault was heard during the test and the technician’s diagnosis was “replace suspension/steering arms” which is apparently a known fault which Audi have issued a technical note to all dealers about regarding all B7 A4 cars.

No idea why the previous owner of my car did not report this but maybe he had the stereo on too loud lol

No idea if this is the same noise you are experiencing but it might be worth asking your dealer the question given that mine replaced the arms under warranty no question... Oh and it did sort the noise out for me..

I hope this helps

Oh.... AND WHAT A CAR :D

All Sorted!

Took it to the dealership and they said it was a ball bearing problem?? Anyway it took 2 weeks to get the part ordered and about 2 hours worth of work. Good news is that the clicking sound has now gone and it was all under warranty.

Thank you all for your advice and input, much appreciated!!

Ok, here's my 2p worth, I also had a clicking/sqeaking noise when turning at low speeds. I took my car into the local Audi dealer and both front shocks are being replaced under warranty - I'll let you know how it goes once they have been replaced - however, I should also add I had my rear passenger side shock changed after approx 2,500miles ........ I'm hoping this puts and end to the gremlins, as otherwise - it is a superb car
