Have the same problem at the moment. After clearing, it didnt happen again ... maybe only a measurement error tolerance ... has nothing to do with the exhaust, its much more the fuel injection system.

I have had the same problem intermittently for the past 3 weeks. I have had the EPC, ESP and emission control all illuminated, sometimes solid and sometimes flashing and not always together. Mine tends to occur at low speed or stationery or after the engine has been running for some time, ie >30 minutes continuously.
For background, mine has covered 7K miles, driven quite hard but not ragged (and normally allowed to warm up first). The service indicator reckons ive got another 10K miles before a service.
Interestingly, I took it to a well known track yesterday and took it through its paces and since then (still early doors) i havent had a single light on.
Its booked in the stealers for a check up next week, will update then.

You've had exactly the same symptoms as my Avant did. The problem is the throttle body which is sticking at idle/low revs. Mine was changed about 4 months ago under warranty - took half a day as they hadn't done one before. The car has been fine since. As it can cause overfueling with the fault lights on - my dealer has noted that the Cats might need changing (under warranty) later in life as a result.

Did you have to have the fault lights reset or did they go out on their own?

Well, got the car back this morning from my local stealer.

They claim to have cleaned and "readapted" the throttle housing. Took them all day, but no reason given. Not sure if it runs better, didnt seem vastly different on way home.

They couldnt do the ECU upgrades, as they havent been able to get online "....since the fire they had 2 months ago". Mentioning no names, LOL.

Had the ECU update completed today, and now got the ESP/EML lights up again. Happens to me when stationary or at low speed, and I think its definitely a throttle issue as the revs at idle are varying between 800 and 1100 - if i rev to about 1400 the lights go out.

Booked for a retest tomorrow. Im starting to like their coffeee LOL.

Mine was in four times from new with this fault. Has a new intake manifold fitted after it was found that there are valves inside which were sticking. I believe there is an instruction floating around for dealers to check this when the cars are brought in. If I remember correctly this was for saloons only. There's another post somewhere here about this too. Car has been fine since.

My car is going in on Thursday to have the perforated oil pipe changed.

I have mentioned it to them that the fault keeps coming back but they told me it was not important. Now they know me and they I'll not be pleased with that kind of get-out clause. I will mention the intake manifold. Thanks.

Taken from another post ( on a different site )

Workshop bulletin referring to New Audi Action 97L4 – Audi RS4 righthand drive Vehicles

Checking the electronics box in the plenum chamber.

Affected chassis number ranges:

WUA ZZZ 8E # 6 N 900197 to WUA ZZZ 8E # 6 N 901957 8ECRX9

The accompanying Technical Service Handbook pages 97L4, refers. See Elsa for Repair

Information.

Number of vehicles affected in the U.K. = 529.

Please check and repair all affected vehicles during a service visit. You should also inform your

New and Used Car sales departments so that the vehicles affected can be checked and repaired

immediately (and not just before sale).

Whether this is actually the same fault as my car was experiencing I'm not sure as I read this after my car was fixed. Regardless, mine did indeed need a whole new manifold and was in for a half days work. Perfect now and no dash warnings since. Hope this helps. :bigwave:
