I dont want to kick up a big fuss with the dealership as they have yet to still deliver my car, anything can go wrong and the service can always go alot worse out
of spite if Audi UK give them a telling off.

Thank you for all your comments folks.

Riz :)
I have to say I wouldn't stand for any of that. I've been very lucky when buying both my S3 and RS4. First time the sales person was my girlfriend's sister and the second time, the salesman was about my age and generally fairly relaxed and easy going.

They can insure you for a test drive no problem, and to think you would accept being taken out by the salesman is just plain rude. I suspect they must have had you covered anyway otherwise I'm sure the salesman wouldn't have let you drive it at all - not on a 50k motor!

As for getting it on Sept 1st, you stipulated it when you put your deposit down so if they don't like it they can lump it. Although by the sounds of it, if you leave it in their hands for any amount of time, they'll probably rag it to death for you!

And don't worry about kicking up a fuss with Audi UK, that's what they're there for. And if the stealership starts getting arsey about it, let Audi UK know again, and let them know that they've lost your business as a result!

I know you're mad keen to get the car, and I can't blame you, but don't let them take you for a ride as a result. It doesn't sound like they're nearly as difficult to come by as Audi would like you to believe anyway (not a good sign for the residuals)!

Interesting points on RS6.com - was reading a thread about a dealer 'issue', and was amazed at the general US attitude to cocky dealers - the concensus over there seems to be - you don't pi$$ dealers off, phone them and make peace otherwise you will regret it. They are within their rights to refuse anyone or anything they like... etc etc blah blah.

F*ck that.

I saw that. That was more a servicing issue though. You have to be careful giving the dealer earache and then taking your car there for work.

Before you've parted with the loot, give em hell.

Bobbjebb, I have been following that thread and also posting on it. I suppose one of the main messages coming thru, is that we can "sledge" the dealer behind a pseudonym/nick name where as the dealer has no comeback or answer of reply.

Now I ain't doubting that the complaint is genuine, but we are relying on one side of the arguement or complaint. Some customers/clients can be real a holes.

I think posting on a website a complaint is really the last resort and can blow up in your face. But if the dealer is a recurrent offender that will come out in the wash. If not it could get messy as in this situation, it would be like a patient complaining on website about the treatment they were given by me. Not something I would appreciate.

Riz_RS4 wrote:Had a planned test drive on sat which had been arranged over a week ago with the salesman,

As most will know im very excited about getting the RS4 so was looking forward to the test drive alot.

Upon arrival the wonderful phantom black beast was parked out front, the car had been sold so obviously the
new owner would be getting a very ermmm well abused car, more on this later.

Anyway I took my cousin down with me as he has never seen on in the flesh before... he started snapping away pictures
and movie clips later on as the salesman took it out.

Picture the scence, a football match is about to start and alot of people are walking about with police patrols etc on foot.

The salesman takes it out of the dealership and heads down a road nice and slowly..... then he floors it.. vrooooome 8,250rpms
gug gug gug as the exhaust rattles and the engine hits the limiter.... ermmm I was thinking 7000rpms should be the limit when
cold.... vroooome again gug gug gug limiter again... I was grinning like a big cat :) although felt sorry for the owner....

Did alot of cruising on dual carridgeways 100-115mph etc and I knew I didnt make a mistake following my heart and not
my mind about getting the RS4.... I asked the salesman when the owner gets his RS4... to which he replied "when weve finished
with it" eeeek...

Anyway to cut along story short I COULDNT have a testdrive as im too young and their policy only covers people aged
30 and above.... I was pretty gutted :(

I did manage to get 5 mins in their car park and took it out of the dealership but he seemed very un-easy about it..
I got the feel for the car which is just as I imagined.

I would have liked a proper test drive though, so I think I will probably give Audi Hq a ring as I think perhaps I deserve
to be treated alittle better from a dealership.

Also im under the impression that my car will be here in the UK by the end of JUne as it is build week 17, but when I put
my deposit down I asked for the car to be on the 56 plate, September 1st. (asked them if they had a car for the 1st when I put
deposit down).

He indicated that they would rather they get rid of the car as soon as it arrives as they dont like holding onto them, but said
"we`ll cross that bridge when nearer to the time"!

Araaaaaaaagh

What do you think folks?

Riz :(
I think they think you are a time waster to be honest and they are feeding you BS.

I am 28 and have test driven the RS4 about three times now. Ordered after the first drive and my dealer regularly contacts me with information.

If you want to be treated better and want a car soon let me know and I will pass you into Pete Little who has been in motorsport for a long time and has a wealth of experience with RS cars.

Vote with your feet!

Im 24 riz, and whether they like it or not, im driving their RS4 on wedsnesday, they took my order and my £1500 so know im serious.. am pee'd off i haven't driven it by now already, if he turns round and says this.. i won't be very happy.. get complaining riz, i know its easier to tell people that they should complain and get on the soapbox, but i really think this is something worth complaining about.. i won't take delivery of the car if i haven't driven an example.. so my order will be coming back and my money demanded back.. i may beable to pick up one of these floating about cars then and get it sooner instead of waiting till june..

if he says, sorry kam i can't let you drive it, i will ask him for my £1500 back, simple as..
On Order: Audi RS5 4.2 V8 Est 450bhp? 08/09?

Bmw 335d Coupe 56/06 & Merc S320 L CDI 56/06

Previous: Audi RS4 B7 06, Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE, All the E46's.. Coupe/Cab/Saloon.

Agree with Kam. Riz, I would tell the dealer that you have just test driven a M5 and if you can't drive the RS4 to compare you will buy the former and fight them for the deposit.

*Update*

Rang Audi customer services up and spoke the customer services manager.

Explained what happend and that I was told that I couldnt drive the car as I wasnt 30.

The sameday the dealership rang me up and explained that I did have a test drive etc (5mins max) and they asked me my age again.... I told them im 25. they went onto say that they thought I was under 25, BS!!!!!! Anyway got a 30min drive on this Sat morning.....

I just dont want them to get more uptight with me, as I have yet to take delivery.... and anything can go wrong up until the point I drive out with it....

Thank you for all your advice.

Riz, you have to remember you're the customer here !!

If you're not happy with the service you're getting, damn well tell them straight. If they don't do their best to keep you happy, then take your 50k somewhere else !

Don't fall into the trap of thinking THEY are doing YOU a favour...

RS4 Testdrive

Post by Riz_RS4 » Mon Apr 17, 2006 2:00 am

Had my testdrive and well chuffed... here is a brief review...

After having about 30-40 mins drive this sat, here is a short review with good and bad points.

Obviously it wont be as in depth until ive driven one for a few months but i`ll try my best.

The one I drove was a demo car which had been sold,
ImageImage
ImageImage
ImageImage
ImageImage
Phantom black, Tech pack, TV, Aluminum inserts, FCA, RS4 Bucket seats, Full leather with approx 2500 miles on a 06 plate wearing Pirelli P Zero tyres.... yummy. :D

The car was fully cleaned upon arrival and looked subtle in black but also aggressive from certain angles. My personal opinion is that darker colours hide the width of the car, the wheel arches dont seem to appear as wide as they do on colours like Misano/Blue/Yellow etc. For the owners who dont want to stand out too much this would be a better option to go for along with Daytona, Mugello.

I personally have gone for the Sprint blue, felt that on a 50k+ car it should "shout" alittle more. :p and the attention doesnt bother me too much, the RS4 has been heavly advertised than the B5 so most will know what a RS4 is, even if it is in a more subtle colour than Sprint Blue.

Before I drove the RS4 I had the impression that it would take me longer than 30 - 40 mins to get used to the mechanics of the car, clutch, brake feel, gearing, throttle and steering responses... I was very suprised to find out that it was very easy to drive, even at low speeds in the car park of the dealership. It didnt "make" you feel that it would be a handful to drive. It didnt scare me like a M3 does, Ive always put safety before fun in a car and quatto 4WD feels safer to me than a RWD car does....

Adjusted the seats and mirrors with ease just like most Audi`s, a point to note is that the RS4 bucket seats could cause problems with owners who are broader than myself... also getting in and out without rubbing on the side bolsters wont be easy for most, again not really a problem for myself. :)

The sound of the engine and exhaust, even at idle it sounded amazing, really gives the car a unique sound/character, abit like the Golf R32 or M3 etc. My cousin who owns a BMW M3 instantly commented that it was way better compared to his M3, not just on the sound of the engine but the interior fit and design, comfort and ride quality.. the list was endless.... he seemed very overwhelmed about the RS4 :D

Doing the national speed limit (70mph) was easy and the car wasnt one bit stressed, the ride comfort was amazing for a car of this nature given its performance.... going around round-a-bouts it was very surefooted and felt un-settled by pot holes etc. Steering feedback and response was pin sharp and I really couldnt find a fault with it, either at high speeds or parking speeds.

The gear box reminded me of my Audi S3 box, slick and smooth but with more percision, very short throws from gear to gear... again nothing I could fault as a major point, small issue could be slight wobble (2-5mm) when in a gear... hard to explain but didnt really make much difference in its performace as a whole. The knob was very solid and chunky... very classy.

The brakes were out of this world and they "grab" really hard when you even slightly touch the pedal... this could be a problem for people with a twitchy foot... perhaps they will feel alittle "softer" once they have worn in alittle more.... again not really a bad point here....

The throttle respone was smooth and consistant as the revs went higher and lower (couldnt detect any flat spots).... again reminded me alittle of the R32 and M3, smooth liner power with no turbo lag.... but youve got to keep a eye on the rev needle as it really does fly around the dials... I personally love the way Audi are going to focus more on N/A engines now and have dropped turbo-charged models for the RS range.... the RS4 engine is a peech.

The clutch was light and very easy to use... too easy actually as it feels very light.... could take some people time to get used to it if they are coming from a car which has a heavy clutch. Again reminded me abit of the S3 clutch.

The DRC system was very subtle and you couldnt tell if its working or not.... so pretty much a "undercover" system..... top marks to Audi for not making the car feel to0 un-natural using DRC. When it comes to the handling or chasis feedback again top marks give that this car is heavy and a saloon. The weight of this car is about 1650kgs and it doesnt at all feel heavy/nose heavy when cornering... a similar trait to the Golf R32.... feels light and stable at speed, not phased by crosswinds etc.

The Sat Nav+ system was very professional and easy to read, took me awhile learning the basic controls of the unit but wasnt hard to grasp... shame Audi didnt allow DVD movie playback on it or offer Digital TV modules. Also should have been standard on a top model like this....

The cruise control is just like most others, so nothing to report here.
The armrest was standard with nothing out of the ordinary, when folded back doesnt get in the way of the handbrake lever unlike BMW ones.
The exhausts could well be a problem to mentain as the car really does chuck out alot of dirt and the same goes of the allow wheels..... extra effort will be required to keep them clean

Well I suppose im pretty much in agreement with most magazine reviews..... 8)

For current S4 and B5 RS4 owners this could be a tricky car to upgrade to.... is it worth the extra money??? Im not sure and its down to personal choice... for new owners like myself its a good buy and ticks all my requirements....

Here are some pictures, if you have any questions please feel free to ask and i`ll try my best....

Re the RS cars not having turbo`s, this is what was announced by quattro GmbH as their new way forward and philosipy, one of the reasons why sold off Cosworth Technologies maybe?

But I have heard rumors of the the new RS6 being a V10 Bi-Turbo unit....

I think they will got the N/A route and use the 5.2 V10 block but make it high reving, FSi... about 550-600bhp
