I don’t know where you are getting these figures from, but if your don’t have a clue about numbers why speculate; I know it may make an interesting topic but it does not help.

For the record; the current Audi thinking; yes subject to change is as follows:

Production 2006 (UK Market, excluding imports)

Saloon Under 185
Avant Under 145
Cabs Under 60

Production 2007 (UK Market, excluding imports)
Figures have not been decided, but factory allocation for:

Saloon 275
Avant 275
Cab Under 275

As I have stated, each dealer has a view, each salesman has a view, but the RS brand is just as important to Audi as it is to customers, past and current. The RS4 will not be released in mass like the M3 it will remain a very special car. The RS4 will hold is value well, and I strongly disagree with comments like “RS4`s will be worth 40k in six months time”

An 06 plate RS4 will still be going for just under list price in 6 months.
I don't know what the numbers are but there are 200+ Audi dealers in the UK and the few that I know all have 4+ saloons available this year. Given some dealers may not be doing many RS4s' I would have thought that the earlier rumoured figure of 600 saloons in 2006 sounds nearer the answer.

FWIW I was offered a guaranteed buy back at £9k off after six months.

There are currently 119 UK Audi Dealers, but 200 is close. Merlot, some dealers only have one allocation for the year, some of the bigger chain based dealers have 4 or 5 per dealership for 2006.

You will not see 600 RS4`s in 2006,07. If you require further information, I suggest you contact the Audi Press Office. The figures are public.

Thanks - you are being too polite as 200+ is a tad more than 119! Sounds like I should have taken the car, trouble is I couldn't live with the tight fit of the bucket seats.

I know but that means a factory order which means really having an Avant, not being happy with the fact that the Sport recaros won't have memory (like I have on my S4's) and the mirrors don't fold so I would have to special order S4 mirrors and hope that I could have the folding option. Then the RS4 won't have the mirrors or the seats which people want so it will be harder to sell on....

.....sounds like I should stick with my S4's. They are fast enough in any case!

MattC, I have to say that I was actually VERY impressed with Riz's estimates based on your (semi??) official figures! Especially if you include a "10% bolclocks" waiver on anything that Audi says ;) First number is Riz, bracketted number is your totals, number after is +10% of yours:

Saloon: 500-650 (460) 506
Avant: 500-650 (420) 462
Cab: 300 (335) 369

TOTAL cars estimate: 1300-1600 (1215) 1337

not bad IMHO.

and on price holding, look at things like Gallardos, DB9s etc. i.e. cars with similar real-time waiting lists. Whilst 40K in 6 months is probably not right, i suspect that 40K in <1 year is probably right.

just my 2p, and probably totally wrong!! :D

should also qualify by saying "who cares about depreciation anyway when you buy a new car?".. Everyone knows that a new car buyer can expect the worst depreciation.... but there are considerable offsets

I'm just trying to understand from what source you are quoting these figures from. Do you work for Audi, if so where ?

Cheers.

Gareth,

Thats a little unfair, but I can assure you the figures are current, but could be subject to change.

Where have you got your numbers from? Why do you think that Audi will not produce/release in mass? Thats what all companies do now inc Porsche, Ferrari etc[/quote]

Was reading recently that the huge production figures that Porsche now have has seriously dented the 986 market and that good cars are easily avalable for well under £30k -- I think the words were ... no longer exclusive and prices react accordingly.
Why even I was looking at a 987, good spec, ceramic brakes , a £53k new price, 8k miles, 8 months old £44950 and that was at Reading Porsche- and we all know about the main dealer prices......

Anyway guys..... can't you just enjoy the cars :D
You'll only make money if you keep them 30 years-- and by then Audi will have abandoned all the parts like they seem to be doing with URs

Is that how many RS4's are really being imported this year...?!
