Same owner for last 7 years bodes well, just make sure all the usual recalls have been carried out or factor into the price.

What's not to like?
What recalls would you expect on an 07 plate car? Oil cooler pipes is about it and that is just a cable tie. What else was there?

Buying the B7 is going to cost a LOT to run. The B8 is new and won't need anything for a while. The B7 is getting old and need a lot of expensive things doing to it now. Doesn't matter if it's had X and y done already, you're never far from the next big ticket item now so be prepared for high maintenance costs.
However, it will depreciate a lot less than the S4 or any other newish car.

Really appreciate everyone's input and varying views. I have become very used to turn the key and that's it driving over the past 3-4 years as have run a couple of new Audi's.

The more I look at it, the more I think that as a one car family, it's going to be too much of a leap in terms of big ticket potential work.

Maybe the v8 itch will have to be scratched in a few years when I can justify a second car.

Cheers all. In the mean time if you see a guy in an S4 staring, then it'll probably be me.

Fair shout Mike, I was probably thinking more of the known weak points.

DRC, oil cooler, coil packs, sticky exhaust flaps, TPMS sensors,

Better stop there as I'm scaring myself. Although, they don't all have to cost a fortune if they are well maintained.

Ok, quick update. I've totally bottled it with the RS4 and put a deposit on this today.

Pretty sure the dealer doesn't fully know what he's got. Couple of parking dings and needs a proper machine polish/wheel Refurb but otherwise very nice.

Planning on a visit to MRC and a full detail/refurb asap.

I guess the petrol just wasn't very common... or I'm missing something too, not sure how a 3.0 A6 is any replacement for an S4 or an RS4.

You're not missing much! The petrols are just very rare. It's the same engine as the S4 so will be able to create a very fast subtle estate. With a map and a pulley change etc it will be 450bhp + but look like a diesel. I get perverse pleasure from the sleeper thing!
