It's not for me I'm afraid. Silver cars just don't float my boat and also more miles than I'm looking for.steview wrote:Mine is still for sale.
Good luck with the sale though.

It can however, make it less valuable. This is common sense guys and the market will dictate that. Take a car at 60k with a new set of disks and pads, a recent clutch and some DRC work done in the last 6 months. Then take a 100k car with the same recent work. I know what most people would consider the better bet.
The B7 is not old enough to be considered a classic, where condition is always the most important factor. Therefore, mileage is a consideration.
I'm actually in contact with someone on here who may be selling their car. It has more miles than I would want, but the spec, condition, recent work and frankly the responsiveness and honesty that the potential seller has shown to my long list of questions is way more important that a trader saying "full service history" or "it's only got 50,000 miles on it".
I'm 100% with you about where to source one. A forum owned car is top of the list, then a private sale, with traders coming a distant third. Not one of the traders I've contacted can give me straight answers about recent maintenance. I therefore don't see how the extra 15% on top of the price can be worth it.
Anyway, something will come up sooner or later. I'm in a fortunate position where I have access to another car and also that I have cash waiting. I'm also self-employed so can travel at short notice, to where the sale is.
Cheers,
Bryan
No right answer here. Just different people want different things. If everyone wanted only low or average mileage cars, then higher mileage ones would be worth nothing at all. If you buy it for £5k less than your budget and know you'll sell it for £5k less when it comes to parting with it - what difference does the value make?
