I have heard the Quantum oil VAG use is re branded Castrol, cheaper and not in as nicer looking bottle. Comes from the same factory, same spec and grade.

Do Audi only recommend 5w30 in theses engines, I have a mate that works for a oil manufacturing company he says as long as it meets the car manufactures spec it does not really matter upon the brand. I use Castrol Edge in mine FYI

Audi just say that the oil must be the VAG spec.

I have been on Total 9000. I found the revs are smoother than Shell that the dealer puts in.

next service I will use 10W40 ou 10W60 to reduce oil consumption.

On the German boards they all swear by Mobil 1 5w50 Peak Life for high oil consumption RS4s. That seems to solve it and the cars run well with it.

Would definitely not recommend 10w60 - its not an M3!

MRC use the standard Audi Long Life stuff so surely thats saying something?
