£90 off eBay mate, very handy, clips straight on charges the phone and links up perfectly, you can also press the button on the cradle and voice control it.

1. Don't snap the drill bit off in the disc and wear safety glasses.

2. It looked gay on the R32 and probably wears your bulbs out quicker! Having said that I also had the coming home light function switched on........

3. Check with a RossTech cable and see what error codes are showing. Think it is module 76.

4. Yes, for jump starting. Don't leave a spanner across the terminals unless you are called Walter White.

5. XL tyres have stiffer sidewalls so require different pressure I think.

Half leather/cloth buckets are cool, grips you better than leather as well. Might mate that bought my R32 puts the seat back to get in and out as it has the cloth buckets.

The R32 is much harder to get out of than the RS4. I think the distance from the seat to the sill is larger. I don't bother putting the seat back in the Audi, I grab the A pillar on the way in and the grab handle and roof bar on the way out.

Gets some odd looks half hopping out but it is worth it to keep the seats looking like new.

Might have to put comforts back in when I start getting creaky.

Going to load up two sd cards with my music.

I have some more noob questions if someone could answer them I would be most grateful :

1. When drilling out the holes in the discs is their anything to be careful about?

2. I have vcds, is it possible to make the car have the beams on when you unlock it?

3. The front parking sensors don't seem to activate or do anything but the rears do? Is there anything I am missing here in terms of turning them "on" and if not, has anyone any ideas on where to start in trouble shooting?

4. The battery is in the boot, is the compartment in the engine bay marked with a battery symbol a point for jump starting?

5. I was checking the tire pressures and there are pressures for 235/35 19 and another set for 235/35 XL, what are the differences?

Sorry for all the daft questions and thanks for looking.
The beams won't come on when you unlock it, but if you have the Coming Home feature the rear lights and front fogs will come on. To see if you have this feature look to the left of the headlight switch, there is a little pop out switch for the DRLs and to the left of that there is another pop out switch for the coming home feature (if you have it).

Front parking sensors should come on with the rear ones. You can adjust the tone and volume using VCDS so it's possible a previous owner turned it down (not sure if you can also turn off completely).

Yes, the battery cover point under the bonnet is for jump starting.

Cheers Mike. The front parking sensors are working fine I just hadn't got close enough to anything lol. New owner so am getting used to the size of it atm.

Unfortunately no coming home light feature.

Is it possible to dim the brightness of the instrument cluster?

Went out to buy eggs and butter for the morning there, came back 1.5 hours later ImageImage

Yeah, random long drives and half a tank of petrol disappearing does happen and quite normal behaviour...I hope

You can also dim/brighten the binnacle display by pressing the + & - buttons when lit up at night time. You can also through VCDS adjust whether you want the scales and needles permanently lit or lit up with certain criteria.

I'm pretty sure there is dimmer for the instrument cluster. Can't remember exactly where. I'll take a look in the morning.

You can probably retrofit the coming home light feature if you really wanted it (not looked inot it but surprised if you couldn't).

Edit: Damn Sam beat me to it!

Newbie making a introduction

Post by birdiemachine » Mon Jan 05, 2015 11:44 am

Ok so another odd question, when I drive up to something in "forward" gears so to speak the front parking sensors don't activate, if I stop, flick it into reverse and move a couple of inches back, then edge forward in first they then work,

Is this normal?

Cheers

yes that is normal, you can just activate them though yourself by pressing the button on the dash rather than having to select reverse

Yes, otherwise the front parking sensors would be on a lot of the time when you're in a queue of traffic - which would be seriously annoying if you live/drive in town a lot!

Yu don't need to move back to turn them on, as soon as you select reverse or hit the dash switch you should hear the beep and they should turn on. Once on they will stay on until you press the dash button or drive over a certain speed (can't recall the exact speed but it's something like 5mph).

More morning time noob questions....

1. I take it the b7 rs4 doesn't have locking nuts as standard?

2. The wheel nut covers, can you get these from audi the paint is peeling off a few of mine.

3. How much would the latest sat nav disc set me back?

Cheers
