Lots of reasons - after all the cooler will last over and above the warranty so after that you get to charge for a new cooler setup. Car manufacturers are not interested in making a ca that runs faultless for ten years.

But am still not convinced there's a solution other than to use ali' all through. And the longevity of that sort of setup is unproven.

Jointing compound *will* solve the issue on its own as it has proven in other applications.
The silicone tape is waterproof to silly amounts of pressure - you can use it to repair oil/coolant/mains water pipes and it provides a solid seal (when fitting it fuses together into a single piece - just ask anybody who uses silicone swimming hats

Finally, whilst you could use Ali connectors I can't recall ever seeing an Ali oil line. My guess is probably not strong enough when braided? Anyway, this would move the issue at least away from the cooler.
