You'd be mad leaving one out at night on the street in my opinion.
+1 has to be off road and secure - especially nowadays...

so im never coming to london in my RS,

i was looking at the star bolts with the nipple in the middle for a security swap, but then thought if they have a 3 square removal bit they probably have the stars

there are also

and finally these that snap off when you tighten them up, and just leave a dome head,

i will see what my local nut and bolt man can get me and keep anyone who is interested posted, may help keep your seats, and piss them off in the process

When i read this i was thinking about some theif proof bolts, the snap off ones look a good idea but i spose if you ever needed to remove the seats yourself to do a repair for example you would have to drill them out which may be very difficult if they just leave a dome. We need some kind of special locking keys like you get on alloys.

Been covered a fair bit before.
Summary was something like:
- proper one off anti theft bolts - too expensive as you can only get them in large quantities as a bulk order.
- screen film
- fill bolts with goo
- use red loctite (won't undo unless heat applied
- bolt covers would foul seat runner.

I think the best option would be the screen film as this also stops them making a mess inside the car.

I think any company that supplies the 3M stuff should be fine.

So if R8 [and other buckets] fit - I am guessing you can still buy these whole - would it not be better to convince the insurance company to pay for these and then at some point in the future get the top head piece re-embossed?

Just an option for those unfortunate to loose their seats through theft......

Would protective glass solve the issue though? I swear I remember reading a thread on here where the person said the thieves managed to remove the door glass without breaking it? Just took it out whole...

Probably wise also to upgrade the std alarm to deter them before they even try and break in!

Check this post out from July 13' as it covers some of this.

The thing about getting the security bolts is that they have to be high tensile ones, like the OE ones are, to make sure the seat remains secure during an accident - and that's what caused the investigation to come to naught.

Wonder what the max amount of tourque is that you can put on the bolts, may be possible to do them up so tight that the little fuckers cant take them out with there 'my first rachet set from halfords' gear
