you obviously haven't heard one! it brings a V8 to life! i would pay more for one! and its a 1 off so far that's why im asking the question not pointing the finger! it could just be luck of the draw i may just have a filter dosed in to much oil? £500 isnt exactly life changing these days

Firestarter wrote:Thanks for this Ben. I've only done around 1000 miles since fitting mine and no issues, however today as I left AmD and got on to M25 the EPC light came on. Car will only rev to just over 6k and feels sluggish. Got home and after I re started the car both EPC & Emission control light come on. I'm guessing this could be down to some further tweaking needed with the map that AmD have just done, but could it also be a MAF issue. Not had any issues with the CF air box prior to this? I'm taking the car back to AmD on Thursday so it can be rectified and will post the outcome of the problem
yours sounds more like limp mode mate! didn't get no emission control light so maybe a lambda for you?

the standard air filter would be a paper filter though no? so would not be oiled! but yeah the MAF is further from the air box on the standard setup

Cheers Ben. I thought that the car may be in "safe/limp mode" and funnily enough the Black loan RS4 I had for a couple of days had the exact same issue and drove and felt exactly the same as mine, however this was due to on-going work the car was having done and was waiting to have the re-map complete and was running the standard airbox....not sure if it had a K&N flat panel filter, but it had the exact same De-cat (no cats) down pipes and Milltek exhaust as mine. Felt sluggish, not pulling as hard in gears and only revving up to just over 6k  I'll mention this thread when I tale the car back in to AmD as its a good point of reference should the cone filter be causing issues and affecting the MAF sensor :bash:

It's considerable actually. Gives a throaty roar which is a only a little quieter than having an exhaust upgrade.

It really does make the car sound great under load.

Induction noise is great as its more controllable than exhaust. Proper stealth mod (from the outside).

Oem paper filters are disposable and non oiled.
MRC filter is a branded one (can't remember the make ITM?) and needs to be washed and oiled.
Just as easy to overdo the oil on that one tbh.

If the revolution one was a paper if be more inclined - oil filters are fine but messy and hassle.

Heard a lot about the power loss too but not really found anyone with any figures. As we all know the old rolling road can give considerable differences day to day with the same car. I imagine if a mod gives a small loss or gain say 5-6 bhp that could be lost due to temps that day. Most people buy this item to give them that lovely noise and as stated it is nice to look at. Gruppe M's quotes an average of 15 hp gain at the wheels. Anyone on here found theirs to give such a large bump?

Mine was running fine for about 1000 miles but then started getting a flat spot at 4-5k, ran diagnostics yesterday and got a Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor 008224 error. Is this what you have Ben?

I prefer the noise of my Gruppe M to my non resonated Milltek.

I had my K&N cone filter cleaned and oiled a few months ago, which is a PITA. Had to leave it to stand for a week before re-fitting it to let the excess oil drain off the filter. It still worry me that the oil might damage the MAF sensor.

I love the look of these but I had issues because of an oiled filter with the MAF on a previous M5. Once bitten twice shy.

Saying that I'd be very interested if a 3 stage dry filter is a possibility :rocker:
