No, when I replaced them at around 13k miles the wear was even across the width of the tyres both front and rear.Silas wrote:Going off topic, did you find when running 275's you suffered with tyre wear on the front inner edge?
DRC and tyre pressures - am I wrong?

Ok interesting, one last question, I take it you have gone back to the standard size tyre? If so how do they compare?Silas wrote:

Re: DRC and tyre pressures - am I wrong?
It's impossible to answer that on an "apples vs. apples" basis since when I had 275/30 they were Goodyear Asymmetrics but the 255/35's have been Pirelli, Michelin PS2 and Vredestein.Silas wrote:Ok interesting, one last question, I take it you have gone back to the standard size tyre? The 275/30s had much better rim protection, but are too wide for the local car wash (255 maximum tyre width)

The Michelin 255/35's to me feel "best" and have lasted second longest.
The Pirelli PS2 255/35s feel worst (by a country mile) and lasted the shortest.
The Vredestein 255/35s are probably going to last longest but their feel is a bit "wooly".
Given their reputation I'm probably going to try the Michelin PS3 or Super Sport is 255/35 next - but if the "other half" did a lot of driving I'd happily go back to the Goodyear 25/30s.

thinking about it, very likely.Silas wrote:You could well be correct Sam, I'm thinking about changing back to the standard size tyresSilas, I'm wondering if the wider tyres have introduced a tiny bit more negative camber? Your alignment people I presume are keeping to the factory numbers which is optimised for the 255 section tyres, hence a little more wear on the inside edge. Just a guess here
Only real way would be to measure the tyre temps to see the heat distribution. If it is over cambered then it won't be linear and the inside edge will take the most beating.

so what's the best way forward to sort this without changing tyres out? Readjusting camber to suite ?Only real way would be to measure the tyre temps to see the heat distribution. If it is over cambered then it won't be linear and the inside edge will take the most beating.
